Reviewing the Mexican press on this.

A preview up on youtube recalls a previous participation by Santos in the competition, and none by the Impact. Notes the Impact has not played an official match since last October and that Santos has been going since late January, meaning the latter should be more game ready. There are doubts about how many starters they will bring to Montreal.

And predicts a 1-1 draw based on home advantage, arguing that Santos will get through the round next week at home.

Articles in Spanish out of Montreal mention Santos' goal of making the world club cup, turning the team into an important side internationally. Once again observe the lack of official matches for the Impact, the indoor setting, and the likely difficulty of the Impact being able to handle the weather next week in Mexico. Also says that Santos is used to have the crowd against them so it won't affect them.

Other articles err in saying the game will be played at Saputo, meaning the journalists have not done any homework. Most claim Santos is the favourite though, while recalling that the team's difficulties have come away from home, and that their schedule is tight with matches before and after (they are away to Nexaca this weekend).

I did a search of some betting lines yesterday, and they all had the Impact as the favourite. They likely don't know anything more than the Mexican press, though.

I dont know if that link will work from here. I got it off of the 24th minute, the media guy. Anyways, if my french is right, it gives the starting lineup for tonight...

Jordan, Braz, Pizzolito, Jocqueviel, di Lorenzo (left back), Gjertsen, Grande, Testo, Placentino, Sebrango, and Brown.

CBC sports also has some video of interviews with Limniatis, de Santis, Grande, Leduc and di Lorenzo! that I just found.

makes sense to me... hope Donatelli and Brillant see some action on the wings later in the game.
