Keegan
quote:Originally posted by Joe MacCarthy I still haven't seen anything official from Sunderland. Not saying it isn't there, I haven't seen it. Facebook isn't a reliable source. Please post links and sources when posting player whereabouts. Sunderland fans seem to confirm it as well as Misiewicz himself on a site that their fans posted. Sunderland fans talk with him on the site and there are pictures of him. Figure that is pretty reliable?

Figure that is pretty reliable?Just this week, within days, we had Wagenaaar trialing at both Leeds and Yeovil, he could have stayed on the list, shown at Leeds, for months. If every rumour or player/agent rumbling was posted to the list, I myself would be on the list at ManU and the list would be useless. By sticking with what has been fairly official confirmation it has been pretty accurate so far. Often, some people post year old info, thinking it is new. If there is a link to track that can be dismissed immediately. Traditionally, people posting info help out the guy maintaining the list by posting "official" links or saying where they got their info firsthand (ie talking to relatives, coaches). Figure you can do that?
youllneverwalkalone
This is a bit of a moot argument, because I'm taking youth players off the list entirely for the reasons mentioned by Mr. McCarthy. Even a link to a news story can be out of date so quickly. Additionally, I feel this list should go back to its roots a bit and reflect the accomplishment of becoming a professional footballer abroad. I appreciate that these kids are training with the various academies, but the list has become too large and too difficult to maintain with any measure of reliability. Having said this, if you can link to an official team page, I will put the player on the list -even if he's not yet professional. That's the standard going forward. Joe MacCarthy
I am going to keep putting the youth and reserve players on my lists as long as I have accurate, official info but I draw the line at Gianni Patina at FC Barcelona. He's nine freaking years old. If he's the next Gretzky/Pele I figure we'll hear about it in the next umm ten years. And for the folks out there, what YNWA said is true. The list is time consuming and difficult to keep accurate (and getting harder all the time, which is a good thing). It's very easy to get behind if you don't stick with it. Tracking down info without links is a pain in the butt especially when you are trying to verify players on the list you haven't checked in a while. Joe MacCarthy
Two Triallists Included In Squad For York Posted on: Wed 30 Jul 2008 http://www.hartlepoolunited.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10326~1353676,00.html#continue Danny Wilson has included two triallists in a strong squad set for Kit Kat Crescent to face York City tonight (7.30pm kick-off). Canadian forward Marcus Haber, who had a spell with Leeds United earlier in pre season, will be in the travelling party for the game against City. Also on the list is defender Jonathan Forbes, a former Manchester United youngster who is currently on the books at Kendal Town. Willie Boland and David Foley have shaken off slight injury concerns to make the trip, while Ben Clark is back to fitness following illness. "It will be a good test for us because York will want to get that impetus going the same as we do ahead of the start of the season," Wilson commented. "The lads here have had a tough pre season so far and we're not easing up on them just yet - they've got a couple more games to go before the big one and they'll be ready. "They've done really well to date and this is another chance for some of the players to get some more minutes under their belts. "York will be looking to push on this season and try and make a charge for the play-offs, they're a big club to be in the Blue Square Premier and we know it will be a good game for us," he added. The game kicks-off at 7.30pm and we'll have all the latest reports and reaction direct from Kit Kat Crescent right here on hartlepoolunited.co.uk Pools (from): Lee-Barrett, Budtz, McCunnie, Collins, Nelson, Clark, Humphreys, Robson, Boland, Sweeney, Foley, Mackay, Porter, Barker, Brown, Forbes, Haber. Joe MacCarthy
Wagenaar deal close Tue 05 Aug 2008 http://www.ytfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10673~1359117,00.html Yeovil Town manager Russell Slade has told www.ytfc.net that the club are close to signing Canadian goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar. Wagenaar has been on trial at Huish Park for the last few weeks and has played in several of the pre-season matches. Slade said: "We are close to signing Josh but as he is Canadian there are several bits of red tape that need to be addressed. "I am hopeful that we will have the deal tied up by the end of the week." Wagenaar started his career in Canada with clubs St. Catherine's Wolves and Hamilton Sparta SC. Since his arrival in Europe Josh spent some time with Dutch club ADO Den Haag and Danish club Lyngby BK. Josh had a trial at Leeds United before arriving at Yeovil at short notice in July to answer the club's urgent need for a keeper. Josh has one Canadian International cap making his debut against Hungary in 2006 and has gained 2 Canadian Under 23 caps in 2008. 6'3" Josh is 23 years old and was born in Grimsby, Ontario. Joe MacCarthy
Begovic looks to seal Yeovil deal http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/sport/Begovic-looks-seal-Yeovil-deal/article-253148-detail/article.html YEOVIL Town are expected to confirm the loan signing of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from Barclays Premier League side Portsmouth in the next few days. The Canadian international featured in the Glovers' 1-0 friendly win at Weymouth last Saturday, but Slade is keen to wait until as close to the new season as possible before concluding the deal. Begovic looks set to be joined at Huish Park by another Canadian shot-stopper in the form of Josh Wagenaar, who has impressed Slade during a trial with the club. “We are hoping to conclude a deal for him [begovic] later in the week and it is fairly imminent that we will sign Josh Wagenaar as well,” Slade said. “It is ironic that we have two Canadian goalkeepers in the building that have played internationally and are good friends as well. It's quite remarkable, really, but that's the situation. “They are two very good goalkeepers and we will be delighted if we could conclude the business [with Begovic] later this week.” The signings would end a long search for new goalkeepers after Steve Mildenhall departed for Southend United at the end of the season and Darren Behcet was released. It meant Yeovil went into pre-season without a goalkeeper on their books and their arrivals will come as welcome relief to Slade. “We are not quite there yet, but it will be a relief,” he added. “We haven't panicked and Asmir has always been our target in the close season, as you well know, so I feel a little bit fortunate to conclude [a deal for] a very good goalkeeper in Josh Wagenaar as well. It will be good business for us if we can conclude that as well.” ...
Joe MacCarthy
Young Darlington side outclassed by Middlesbrough 9:54pm Tuesday 5th August 2008 http://tinyurl.com/599jxg A DARLINGTON (League Two) side made up of fringe players, youth team members and trialists was out-classed tonight as Middlesbrough marched to a 5-0 win. The scoreline did not betray the balance of play as a Boro team, which amounted to a strong reserve side, dominated proceedings in what was Quakers' final friendly of the summer. With the season starting at home to Exeter on Saturday manager Dave Penney chose not to use any of players likely to make Saturday's line-up and instead used tonight's match to field five trialists. They were Ben Muirhead, Paul Evans, Robert Bayly, Marcus Haber and Paul Robinson, while Tim Ryan played his first game since January.... At this stage each team began to make several substitutions, Quakers taking off youth team player Dan Groves as well as beanpole striker Marcus Haber. The Canadian trialist has this summer has an eventful summer as he attempts to find a club having had trials with Leeds and Luton while last week played for Hartlepool at York. Despite the number of changes, Gareth Southgate's side maintained their supremacy, making it 4-0 when Tony McMahon tapped home after Kazimierczak could only parry an effort at a corner. Darlington's Marcus Haber struggles to fend off the attentions of Middlesbrough's Mohammed Shawky Darlington (4-4-2): Kazimierczak; Hardman, Miller, Ryan, Hewitson (Main 83mins); Muirhead, Evans (Riley 83), Bayly, Groves (Gray 62); Haber (Smith 64), Robinson.
