Has come off the bench to score against Chicago. I believe he may have even shouted โ€œScrew you Fotmob!โ€ as part of his goal celebration

  5. Valour and Montreal should explore some kind of relationship. Maybe 2 for 1 therapy sessions for their fans?

  6. I don't know if this horrid result by Montreal is good or bad for Forge who visit CFM on Wednesday in the V's Cup, they are in complete disarray and I am hoping that will continue and Forge will have a chance at a shock result!

  7. Got to think Marsch is keeping close tabs and perhaps not too impressed with the Montreal brigade, at least for today. Certainly food for thought.

  11. NGL all the talk about the CSB being cut-off seem rather silly to me... Does anybody really think that the CSA didn't at least made a serious attempt to go ''Hey guys, we could definitely use more money for some of the options for coach! Do you think you could return a chunk of money from the CSB deal? After all, if the CMNT does well it will probably benefit you as well... No? Ok, we understand'' before getting too far into the philanthropic options? Dunno, that seem extremely unlikely to me. After all, you are better off only taping your donors when you have absolutely no other options. If the CSB wanted the credit to finance the new coach all they had to do was say the word but they didn't. Honestly, the sense I get is that (and I am not saying its conscious) is that the real reasons some people react so viscerally here is that they do not like being reminded about how how the CPL is propped up by national teams money and/or they'd rather the MLS clubs did not exist as such, or at least they are frustrated at how much more media and public attention they are receiving. That donation outlined the importance of the MLS clubs for the national program and Canadian soccer as a whole at this point in time, the fact it was needed vividly illustrated the financial challenges caused by the CSB deal and that the sacrifices made by other chunks of Canadian soccer to help the CPL, while needed and justified, are very real and substantial and the federation, through OKing MLS in the official job title, showed they are accepting the MLS clubs will stay around for the time being. Some react badly to it because it's a powerful reminder of several realities they don't like , and I get that (I am firmly against the MLS clubs being forced in but I do think the CPL deserve more attention and obviously everyone would love for us to not have to make some of the financial choices we have to), but those realities won't disappear if we ignore them. The federation has to function with the cards it has, that's why Blue has been brought in.

Uhhhโ€ฆ. Maybe itโ€™s on him. I find it quite interesting to watch a debate over who to blame for someoneโ€™s own problem. Heโ€™s the professional. He needs to take personal responsibility for his own situation. Perhaps either or both clubs could have done better to help him but frankly, we have no idea what they did good or bad. We do know by his weight gain that unless he has a freak medical condition, he certainly didnโ€™t live up to his own part of being a professional.

  16. I've no idea if these games will end up on either of the big Canadian cable sports networks, but what I do know is that these friendlies are not part of the Copa package. Completely different entities in charge. TSN would be smart to show one or both, of course. Regardless, I'm confident that this match will be available to watch in Canada (as we already know OneSoccer has the Netherlands match).

  17. Probably going to end up on DAZN

  18. Because Westhead eagerly announced the friendlies, when he would never do so if TSN were not involved, not being interested in journalism beyond his company's interests, that is what I understood: it is part of the Copa package. I am pleased to say I booked and will be in Bordeaux for this match.

I know you joke but if it pay us a fully fledged youth program for both men and women? Sure!

  23. Admission is usually $5 or $10. Alliance was free but this week Centennial College dinged me for $6.50 for parking whereas last week the backway gate was open. There are special nights for some clubs where kids wearing their club kits (I suspect they mean their own youth teams) get in for free.

  25. We literally have our three best strikers off on injuries and three key offensive pieces in the midfield injured alongside them. I'd argue that basically any club in a salary cup environment who was attack-oriented would suffer mightily in such circumstances.

What makes this all the more bizarre is he scored 3 goals in 3 games to start this season. I donโ€™t even necessarily think it was a weight thing but maybe both parties saw the relationship going nowhere in the future

  31. Away friendlies (and neutral ground friendlies) have always ended up on OneSoccer. I presume that part of the CSA's negotiation package when these things are signed, is to own the rights to the broadcast within Canada. This may be one of the terms of the Canadian Soccer Business deal.

  32. Forge really were out of sorts today and full marks to Vancouver who took advantage of it, Forge were a mess defensively on both goals conceded and really should have done better with their possession, the Vancouver keeper made a couple of game changing saves as well! I didn't think this would be an easy match for Forge and was proven right early on although it looked like if Forge equalized it would be their match to win but stout Vancouver defending and a rather predictable Forge attack allowed them to take their chance on the counter! A lack of experienced striker hurt Forge and I wonder how far ahead Bobby was thinking in resting Hamilton and Choinere with the V's Cup match in Montreal looming? VFC look a good side and I think they will be competitive in most matches this season, they have some depth as well! A glorious day down at THF in the sunshine was only partially ruined by the result, it looked like a decent crowd for a long weekend although I am sure I will read otherwise!๐Ÿ˜€

  34. Agree about Neuer. It's not often that one can accurately say in a top-flight match that 75% of the goals allowed were primarily the fault of the keeper, but one can on this occasion.

  35. Surprised. Especially the Sunday game, 3pm EST on a Sunday in June. TF1 has the rights. In Netherlands, the public NOS has theirs. I appreciate Netherlands is a harder sell as it is mid afternoon EST on a Thursday. But what else would they have at that time? The Sunday, Lions play at home on the 9th, think it coincides; the Stanley Cup finals will be on by then.

  36. FFF owns this game and will sell it off to the highest bidder. In some regions, UEFA-based friendlies are packaged together and sold to broadcasters as such.

  37. Although I'm not ecstatic about this hire, I think to be fair to Marsch we can't use the 2 friendlies or Copa America to assess him. He will have had little prep time to evaluate the players in the program and implement his tactics.

  38. What is so great is that he is shooting with his right more and more, which suggests if he's inverted, he can still get to the endline and cross in with his wrong foot. Essential skill to have if most of your attack will turn in onto your good foot. Here are full highlights, finally got to watch. Neuer was a total disaster, I think Germany have to seriously consider putting Ter Stegen in goal. He does not have the same winning mentality, nor the leadership, but he has the skill set and Neuer is in serious decadence.

Maybe it's mainly on the young guy himself? If you want to be a pro athlete it's probably best to avoid having a waistline that resembles the Michelin man. He's still young enough to turn it around but it's really up to him in the first instance to get back to being the sort of player that a CanPL or MLS club would want to have around.

I know, you're just wrong. The Whitecaps don't have a history of players showing up out of shape. This is on York for failing to prepare a young player to step up to the next level.
