Now that the WWC is over, and that this match is only about a month away, it feels OK to start a thread.
The JFF have announced everything except the exact kickoff time and details regarding ticket sales.

What changes need to be made from our team that bombed out of the World Cup?

Aren't most of the Jamaican players from the UK and USA? If so, then playing at 3:30 will hamper them as much as us.

Interesting point. An earlier kickoff time would hamper both teams but would it hamper Canada more?

Rough, Priestman out?

Unlikely, but if we don't get past Jamaica home and away I think she is out.

What does Sinclair do now.

I think she will stick around for these two games but I can't see her being a starter for both.

  • Olympique_de_Marseille changed the title to OQ: Jamaica vs Canada - Friday, September 22nd - 8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific - Kingston, Jamaica

Kickoff time announced. It will be an evening game. 7pm local (8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific)

The OneSoccer broadcast will overlap with the York United vs Cavalry match. I suspect the CanPL match will be shifted over to YouTube.

Canada 25 player squad has been released. Schmidt and Chapman don't make it. Chapman hasn't played Houston's last 2 matches.

It would be a huge upset if Canada does not advance to the Olympics and I am sure Sinclair will not take any penalties. Canada has a very strong roster even with Beckie still out. Jamaica can't score except for Shaw and did not produce much at the World Cup scoring only once I think.

Match is sold out.

Last match at BMO saw less than 16k watch them play Korea in a World Cup/Olympic qualifying tune up in June 2022. Only the Celebration Tour match at Starlight Stadium sold out. So, bump is likely from overall growth of women's sport and general bump from the World Cup including possibly from Jamaican diaspora. It's also first competitive match for senior Canada women ever at BMO.

I am really curious as to how many Jamaican flag colours will be in the stands, based on their strong WC showing Down Under.

You making the currency conversion for the funding puts you way ahead of the Canadain soccer media.

Canadian Soccer Daily's Dunlop reported it as $25 million without denoting the currency or doing a conversion. Based on what he wrote, it seems he assumed it was in Canadian or US dollars.

"...To see a smaller nation receive such support from its own federation and partners shows how quickly Canada will fall down the rankings without improved support and investment."

Another example of many examples seen over the past year showing Canadian soccer media is clueless about the industry of football and/or financially illiterate.
