...The SPFL seems like a pretty big step up and the physicality will be a tough adjustment. If he can figure it out, this is an impressive move. Overall, good to see an SPFL side rating the CPL this highly

Worth bearing in mind that the range of playing standards and team budgets in the Scottish Premiership is huge. Charlie Trafford played with Hamilton Accies at that level in 2020-21 and is now playing with the Cavalry in CPL.

To put it in perspective Ross County draw 2000 less fans then Wanderers per game. That's not to say that club budgets are similar just that Ross Count is not exactly a giant. Still he will get a chance to play against some really good sides in Scotland it will be a good experience hopefully.

Factor out away supports and it is probably more like 3000 fewer. Ross County are backed financially by a local billionaire called Roy MacGregor who has helped them a lot in recent times.

Up until 30 years or so ago that part of Scotland basically had its own separate league because transport links weren't good enough to make round trips by road in a single day comfortably doable from Edinburgh and Glasgow.

At that point Ross County were very much an also ran compared to three Inverness clubs and Elgin City, so their rise to the top division as a fully professional club has been one of the more surprising things to happen in Scottish football in recent times.

"The Canadian-Haitian forward began his professional career at FC Nantes of France’s Ligue 1, before showcasing his talent in Spain’s Liga 2. Cantave makes his return to Canada with Cavalry FC after most recently playing with Liga 1 Romania side AFC Chindia Targoviste. The native of Ottawa represented the Canadian Men’s National Team at the under 17 level, before switching allegiances to represent Haiti."

The description of Cantave's career is a bit exaggerated. He never played in Ligue 1, and was only at FC Nantes as an academy member for a year or two around age 16/17. From my understanding he has never played in the second division of Spain, although he bounced around many clubs from the 3rd to 5th divisions over a five year period. The only accuracy is that Cantave played in Romania's Liga 1 but he only earned about 130 minutes.

I hope he does well, and he's still only 25 but the track record isn't as promising as it looks.
