The Mother of all Chant Sheets

Slight correction, to fit the tune it should be:

Oh me, oh my, I heard Mexico cry...

Mexico has three syllables. :) we have been practicing here in Victoria.

We plan to have ten-20 singing it on Thursday, 30-40 @ Doolins on Friday and 100+ by the time the march is done so we arrive at the stadium primed to do it en masse.

Wow! This is going to be fantastic!

And I agree with the modification due to number of syllables. That's how I always heard it in my head anyway. It works much better with Honduras, Jamaica, or The Ticos, but with a slight change of emphasis, Mexico works.

I kinda worry about the Trump wall stuff. Using trump to tease Mexicans will be seen as poor form by some.

Kind off topic from chants, but if we can a sign that said.

"No Trump, you can't have our wall"

With a picture of Milan Borjan, that might be something.

I think you all know how I like to push the envelope more than FedEx, but doing against individuals rather than a group leaves us off the hook on people who might miss our intent.

We have also been enjoying:

It's not Azteca (tune: La Cucaracha)

It's not Az-tec-a, It's not Az-tec-a,
Your gonna lose to Canada.

It's not Az-tec-a, It's not Az-tec-a,
Your gonna lose to Canada.

Specifically for home games of course. ;)

Trying to remember this one accurately from Vancouver. Correct me please if I don't have it right.

Chant: Sweet Dreams

Tune: Sweet Dreams are Made of This

Sweet dreams are made of this.

Red and White on a field of green.

I travel the world and the seven seas.

To cheer on my country to victory.

This was the BEST chant in Vancouver.  Everyone picked it up really quick and it went on for long stretches.

I liked it so much I made a video:

I was just rewatching parts of the Nov 13th game. Here's a chant that came through loud and clear on the broadcast, although I don't know the tune and that is going to make it difficult.

Chant: Canada Here We Go

Tune: ??

La-la-la-la-la-laaaaaa. La-la-la-la-la-laaaaaaa.

La-la-la-la-la-LA-LA-LA-LA.

Canada here we go. Hey-oo.

How about a simple tribute to a Voyageur who continues to make good and who has always given back? I saw him shooting photos (for the CSA?) at the Honduras math:

To the old Beastie Boys track - "Max Bell, he's got the ill communications!" (repeat ad nauseam or at least until he laughs out loud)

If you'll excuse the low-quality of the effort, I know the song you're referring to, and while hopped up on post-surgery pain killers, I attempted to recreate the tune on my tablet....poorly.

Another whitecaps song that got repurposed ("allez les rouges" replacing "oh vancouver") was this one

Nice. The medication didn't seem to have an adverse effect. On the tune at least :)

If the two marches meet, it's inevitable that this little ditty will come out. Just hold off for a few seconds while I usher my kids, with their innocent ears, into the stadium.

Chant: Can You Hear?

Tune: ??

Can you hear Mexico sing? Noooo Noooo!

Can you hear Mexico sing? Noooo Noooo!

Can you hear Mexico sing?

I CAN'T HEAR A F**KIN' THING!!!

Noooo Noooo No!

So if the Caps supporters had a 'Vote Drumpf' sign last weekend does that mean we can re-hash the great tradition of our loser Canadian hockey team (which one am I right?) and bring some waffles on Friday (go to about 16:45)?

I know we bandy this about too close to every Nats match but these two stanzas are the ones I think we could make stick:

To thee we brought our hopes, our dreams,
For thee we stand together,
Our land of peace, where proudly flies,
The Maple Leaf forever.

Long may it wave, and grace our own,
Blue skies and stormy weather,
Within my heart, above my home,
The Maple Leaf forever!

I don't think it's too much to ask people to try and learn these two stanzas.

Posted this in the pre-game march thread and got some positive feedback so I figured I'd add it here.

DeGuzman is turning 35 on Friday and being honoured for becoming the all-time caps leader.

This would be more of a serenade than a chant, but I think it would be a nice gesture

To the tune of Hey Jude by The Beatles

Hey Jules, don't play it back

Take a touch 'round, the first defender

Remember to look for Cyle in the box

Then you can cross for him to header

Hey Jules, in red you're clad

We're all with you, in this together

We love you from the bottoms of our hearts

We owe you thanks forever and ever...ever...ever

Na na na nananana ..

nananana

Hey Jules

I know this is just for Mexico and only relevant for this game but....

tune: She'll be Coming Round the Mountain.

Will...you... pay for Donald Trump to build a wall?  (Si, si!)
Will you pay for Donald Trump to build a wall?  (Si, si!)
Will you pay him back in pesos,
Or use dollars like the gringos?
Will you pay for Donald Trump to build a wall?

Yeah, too late and too much...but it will be fun in the pub if not at the game. :)

///Anything Trump

Rather not @ Donald trump chants. we aren't American, nor do we support trump (I suspect).

///Kick-Off Chant

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qfRNyFxnWk is a must (IMHO) at kickoff. Sends the exact msg our program has been illuminating as of late...players, managers, executives, fans

//JDG

We need something for JDG...an easy "we all dream of the team of Julians...#1 is Julian, #2 is Julian...etc" may work.
