nolando
Yassine Bounou was born in Montreal, although he has played for Morocco's U23 team, I don't think he has been officially capped. http://www.yabiladi.com/articles/details/11334/portier-marocain-yassine-bounou-signe. Anybody know anything about him?
Bertuzzi44
Doubt we get him, as it seems he is very much on their radar. According to wiki, he was called up for their ACN qualifier on September 9th. Don't think he played, but the other 2 keepers called were 36 and 34 years old... Obinna
lets pull a "Bosnia" and get him into the Cuba game with 5 minutes to go.
Olympique_de_Marseille
Does Hart even know about him?
Macksam
I hope Canadian soccer can soon come to a point where we don't concern ourselves over players (with some Canadian connection) playing in foreign second divisions or obscure foreign leagues. ThiKu
He may be in a foreign second division but it's one hell of a 2nd division, and he's obviously a big part of one of the bigger clubs in the world. Don't kid yourself, Spain D2 is superior to MLS, for example.
jpg75
Atletico B play in Segunda B which is the 3rd tier. He's signed to a 1 year deal with an option to add 2 more years. He's #4 on their depth chart.
ThiKu
2nd tier Spain, 3rd tier Spain....OK, but still a good level. He's young. And he's at a big club playing meaningful minutes and receiving excellent training. If he gets involved in their first team moreso than ya, he's gotta be on the radar at least. It's never going to change, this is the way international footy is. We may stop looking in second divisions and obscure leagues but it will still happen elsewhere. Even Italy has a few foreigners in their ranks...

Italy's Futsal team has 7 Brazilians on it out of 12 players recently. While I would love to see the day we don't care about it that is a ways away. nolando
Bono (as he's apparently referred to now) played for Morocco vs. Burkina Faso in a friendly just over a week ago: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/morocco_burkina-faso/index/spielbericht_2361396.html

Since the #CanMNT is about to play Morocco next month, might as well mention that he got himself cap-tied to Morocco on September 4th 2016 during a CAF qualifier vs São Tomé. (he may have been cap-tied earlier but I can only find friendlies where he has played prior to this at the senior level). Every time we lose to Honduras in SPS and get knoked out of WCQ we have to lose at least one player right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Africa_Cup_of_Nations_qualification_Group_F http://www.cafonline.com/en-us/competitions/qcan2017/MatchDetails?MatchId=cM4ZtQap%2frVtdK1QDdH0jJqqL6Khk4DMmlpZ51N42yB%2bM%2fdSl%2fXNfXQmRsCn%2bwlT Another player officially lost /lock thread
Big_M
There was talk that he was still interested in playing for Canada but seems like they heard it and there was no way they would let him go so they tied him up even with the first keeper being there. Morocco doesn't really have a first choice goalkeeper. All their goalkeeper are very average so they just don't know who's best.
Big_M
Munir Mohamedi is the definite starter and has been since 2015. They were already qualified for the ACN so it was the right time to tie Bounou.
Vince193
That's the second Bono to have a negative impact on the Canadian goalkeeper situation.
