Yeah, it's too bad there's no other winter option in North America for these 1993 guys (Stanese is a 1994, though; nobody knows why he wanted to go to some low-ranked school in Florida early but he did!). I've ranted about this at some length in the past so I won't go any further than that.

Have you even been to FCGU? Beautiful campus and great soccer facilities (including a SSS with a capacity of about 2500). Newer D1 soccer program but big aspirations as evidenced by their non-conference schedule the last couple of years (UCF, USF, UC Irvine, Akron, Georgetown, Iona, South Carolina, Furman). Coach Bob Butehorn is very experienced (St Bonaventure, Penn, Maryland). They play big games in front of sizable crowds (6 games this season had crowds of 1500+). A great atmosphere to play college soccer. Calling FCGU "some low-ranked school in Florida" is an injustice...both to FCGU and Mr Stanese.

It may be a beautiful campus; I don't know. They may have big dreams. Good for them. But blue-chippers like Stanese shouldn't be going to schools that hope in the near future to start developing really good talent; he should be going to schools that have proven to be developing really good talent for some time. (And actually he shouldn't be doing that; he should be going pro.)

NCAA actually isn't a bad move for these Academy kids anymore. With the fact that they can keep playing with their academy during the NCAA off-season what do they have to lose? As for Stanese picking FGCU, he's a starter at 18.. there aren't many center backs in NCAA starting for good schools at 18 and getting that time is important for his development. Likewise, Ingram is also there playing goal and getting starts as a sophomore so it's not all doom and gloom. Omari Morris is at Akron but he hasn't seen a minute all season.

Anyway, Welshman scored his 10th goal of the season Friday and Haber had his 17th of the season yesterday.

After playing in only one game last season as a Freshman, Kyle Silva of Winnipeg has started all 16 games for Seattle U. as a Sophomore. Silva is a 20 yr old ('92) holding midfielder who some might remember as the kid who went to Sporting Lisbon back in 2006 (lasted only a year there).

Jay Chapman scored his first three college goals in a 3-1 win over Indiana, one of the top teams in the nation.

That effort will be notice by scouts, with so many people watching Eric Zavaleta. It will be interesting to see how many of these guys TFC try to sign in the offseason/future. Matheson and Murrell have both had huge sophomore seasons, but you also have Chapman, Seymour, Thomas, Ingham, etc. Some of these guys are going to end up going to other clubs in the 2015/2016 drafts you'd think...

Ben McKendry also scored his 3rd goal of the season, as his Lobos defeat Silva's Redhawks 3-0.

New Mexico are ranked 10th in the NCAA and will be the top seed for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation post-season tournament.

For Seattle their season is over and they finish with a record of 3-12-1 overall , 1-7-1 MPSF.

Chapman also scored in the semi-final 3-1 win against Penn State

Haber scored his 18th goal of the year in a 1-0 win over Columbia as Cornell won the Ivy League

McKendry was named MPSF freshman of the year and scored 2 goals in their 3-0 semifinal win over Beckie's Denver bringing him to 6 on the year. They lost on PKs to Air Force for the title today.

Stanese and Ingham won their conference title with FGCU today with a 1-0 win over Greg Ranjitsingh and Mercer. Both keepers were tied for the conference lead in shutouts with 7 heading into the match. Stanese was named to the all tournament team.

McKendry scored his 7th in this match. Perhaps Rennie will pause before signing the next Angus McWangus and look a little closer home.

^Nice summary. This is a huge opportunity for a few guys to really raise their standing. A good tournament from Liu, Kapor, De Zorzi, Da Cruz could mean a combine invite. Also an opportunity for Bekker to make up for a sub par season.

Half the Canadian guys I assume are protected from the draft by their respective MLS clubs.

In the tourney, there's Irving, Stanese, McKendry (VWFC), Chapman, Seymour, Matheson, Ingham, Thomas, & Murrell (TFC) of the top of my head. Some of the top players (Haber, Wickham, Perez) are underclassmen and would need a Generation Adidas deal to make it into the draft.
