jonovision
^ If they end up replaying the full 90, that is a preposterous decision.
foreverthursday
I think it's the whole game. That would be the biggest load of horsesh!t! That wouldn't be in fairness of sport at all.
JamesW
From the FIFA rule book: "Periods of play The match lasts two equal periods of 45 minutes, unless otherwise mutually agreed between the referee and the two teams. Any agreement to alter the duration of the periods of play (e.g. to reduce each half to 40 minutes because of insuffi cient light) must be made before the start of play and must comply with competition rules." "Abandoned match An abandoned match is replayed unless the competition rules provide otherwise."
Tuscan
If they restart tomorrow morning it better resume and not start from a wiped slate. That would be unjust to the Caps as they rightfully are ahead at this point. TFC have done nothing so far to make it seem like this should be a tied match. The away goals rule really throws a wrench in it as going back to 0-0 is advantage TFC, not starting at equality. Is it the weather in Toronto that is killing all the feeds? Redcoatsforever
I'd assume so, the six yard boxes are completely submerged now, and the stadium lights have an 11pm curfew for some reason?
Tuscan
Is anyone else having trouble with the SN feed at the moment? I can't get it to connect right now.

jonovision
If the match is replayed in its entirery, as criminally unjust as that would be, it should not be played at 10am on a weekday. It should get the full broadcast treatment in prime time.
nolando
Bloody hell -doesn't common sense dictate you play the final thirty minutes of the match tomorrow during the first available break in the weather?

Ah, there's where you are confused. What is common sense for Vancouver is nonsense for TFC. LOL.
tarnado1555362291
from Sportsnet homepage: "The Nutrilite Canadian Championship soccer game between the Whitecaps and TFC has been rained out. The final 30 minutes will resume on Thursday."
Moldy9
This year's edition has been a complete disaster: unfortunately had to start the tourney in early May due to the Gold Cup in June. On two occasions the games were up against a Montreal and Vancouver NHL playoff game. Edmonton having to play their home game at a early time with an empty Commonwealth and now you have this major rain delay and even if it is to continue the entire crowd has gone home. And if it ends up being re-scheduled when will that be? And if they erase the score line and TFC win, Caps will have gotten screwed once again. jonovision
Dobson has confirmed it's a new game, 0-0 scoreline, 1-1 aggregate! What a crock. If they are playing a full 90 (possibly 120), they certainly can't do that tomorrow morning, if they care at all about player safety (which is what the whole delay was about). gwsmith63
Dobson has confirmed it's a new game, 0-0 scoreline, 1-1 aggregate! So if it looks like they are following the FIFA wording on abandoned games, then WTF took so long to make that announcement????????

Moldy9
new game??? if i were a vancouver fan i'd be seriously pissed off. the game was more than half way done. Vancouver should be given the title in my opinion or at least play the remaining minutes of the game but to take away a goal, this just reeks. narduch
The official tournament rules call for a full replay if a game is cancelled. I'm assuming the delay is due to the negotiation on when the game will be played.
