The New Mother Of All Canadians Abroad

Fisk is represented by Dr. Andreas Kirsch, who has close ties to FCK. He's had some mixed results, the biggest flop perhaps being Zarley Zalapski's cousin Marinko Maras. There's an interesting article about Maras' experience posted by Joe McCarthy here:

Kirsch does represent Simpson, Friend, several other CMNT pool players and a couple of decent German players. Justin Thompson is also on his staff:

Going to need more on Mohammed Abdulrahman Abdulla. On Wiki he is listed as being French (Defender, #4 jersey) and cannot find any other info. on the player using footballzz/zerozero or other football sites.

Taj Sangara was born in Philly, but appears to have been living in BC since at least 2008 http://www.diablofc.org/News/2008/U15SuperY12_08.htm which means he's eligible for both Citizenship and meets FIFA eligibility.

Marco Groschel was with 1860 Munich until last summer and then transfered to Unterhaching where he was with their U19 B team (A2) last season. His contract is now expired.

Christopher Scott is now with Wacker's reserve squad that play in Bayernliga Sud (Oberliga).

Nikolaos Georgiadis, can't find any other site that says he was born in Toronto including the official club site. Not adding him.

Young Ben has his eyes on making the FCK U23's (had to be careful with my CAPS placement there).

A few quick questions for my learned friends:

1) What, these days, qualifies our players to be capped, and therefore unavailable to other countries? WCQ, Gold Cup, and friendlies?

2) Does an updated list exist of all our active, capped players who are unavailable to other countries?

3) Whether this list exists or not, could we possibly add some symbol beside each of our active, capped players at the beginning of this NMOACA thread?

Perhaps few would find this as interesting as me, but I'm forever wondering who of our youngsters and peripheral players have been capped

and whether or not upcoming matches will cap them (for instance the youngsters againt T & T tomorrow). Thanks in advance.

I'm not as learned as some, but I'll try. Any sanctioned international match counts as a friendly, and playing in one means you are "capped" in that match. So every friendly is one that you are capped in. However, I think they term you are looking for is "cap-tied". And the T&T game did not "cap-tie" them, meaning they are ineligible to play for any other country.

In fact no friendly match can cap tie a player. Gold Cup matches, and competition matches like that, (ANY WCQ match, for example), WILL cap tie a player. But even then there are exceptions. WCQ qualifying matches will always cap tie, but not all Gold Cup matches. To cap tie, a match must have been played against a FIFA member country in good standing, and not every country in the Gold Cup qualifies as that. The most obvious example, as many learned in 2011, was Guadeloupe, where Milan Borjan got his first cap for us, but still was not cap tied to our country. I remember being EXTREMELY happy that he got the nod in the next game against Panama as well.

If I missed anything for those rules, don't worry, there's plenty of knowledgable Voyageurs with more experience who will be quick to correct me and laugh at my feeble effort at the same time. (Or just be petty and use more proper terminology...but I admit, I'm the WORST, I researched NONE of that, I just started typing)

You're a saint madmonte. That helps. Your explanation demonstrates just how difficult it is to cap-tie our Canadians as CONCACAF participants. On average we play 4 Gold Cup matches every 2 years (as mentioned, some of which don't cap-tie), and likely (on average) 9 WCQ matches every 4 years. Doesn't seem like much opportunity to cap-tie our youngsters. Saying that, better results for the CMNT would see us go further in tournaments and breed more opportunity.

PS Any support for a symbol beside each of our cap-tied players at the beginning of this thread, or am I climbing a greased pole here?

Why make it easy for others to poach?

And when did this thread go to pot and become useless "discussion". It used to be a sentence about Canadian player transfer news only and you could find out who and where people were going without having to wade through pages of talk. Ahh, the good ol' days!

Cesar Santamaria no longer with CD Once Lobos - too bad as they're in 1st place in the Ascenzo with a perfect record of 3 wins so far.

http://cdoncelobos.com/Equipo.html

Found this great site for club football in El Salvador. Lists all rosters for 1st division clubs, but unfortunately Cesar is not listed anywhere so he's either caught on with another 2nd division club or is floating out there somewhere...

On the heels of symbols for cap tied players, how about this? I don't want to sound critical, because this list is amazing and I reference it constantly...but is it possible to note on certain players whether they are definitely Canadian or whether there is a likelihood that they are dual nationals, ie some people on the list fully born and raised in America? I am aware that there is never a guarantee either way, but it would make it easier to keep track of who is actually a national team prospect and who isn't?

If not, no big deal!

Former U of T goalkeeper Maximir Luburic is with Atlantas of the Lithuanian A Lyga

Interesting find. Dual citizen with Croatia and only 22.

Apparently he transferred to his current club from Croatian third tier club NK Tresnjevka Zagreb:

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/nk-tresnjevka-zagreb/startseite/verein_25246.html

The club is terrible, like Chencinski's Orebro they are dead last in their league and likely to be relegated.

He started the most recent two matches for the club, against Kruoja and yesterday against Grande's old club Suduva: http://www.soccerway.com/matches/2012/08/21/lithuania/a-lyga/fk-suduva/fk-atlantas/1267310/

One to keep an eye on, I figure.
