According to twitter accounts of the players, four Canadians are on trial for Club Nacional in Uruguay.

The list includes Lucas Cavallini's brother Cristian (who everyone seems to think is better than Lucas), Lucas Scorzafave, Jerome Toure and Anthony Osorio

I'm guessing he's jonathan osorio's brother? who also had a spell with Nacional. Very good news to see more players getting looks for a good team.

That is correct - Anthony Osorio is Jonathan's younger brother.

All 4 players are from Clarkson Sheridan Soccer club. All 4 players were part of the Clarkson U18 team that finished Ontario Cup Champions.

Michael Smith - Northern Irish born half-Canadian (see link below) playing for Bristol Rovers FC (4th Tier England)

http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Bristol-Rovers-Paul-Buckle-signs-Michael-Smith/story-12825593-detail/story.html

He appears to have played for N. Ireland U23's, can anyone confirm?

Also, need confirmation that Martin John is actually at Ontinyet in 2b. Does not appear on roster in wiki nor on the teams site (which has nothing)

Not sure how you got to that page of their site which seems to be an old page that has not been updated for a long time. He is listed several times on other parts of the site both in the team and statistics pages. Sometimes he is just referred to as Martin:

Apparently an out of date wiki which is linking to an old page on the site which is still accessible but not updated from last year. They probably redid their site this year but didn't bother to take down some of the old stuff from last year. I asked because I tried to get to that page from the links on their site and could not do it.

Here it says Michael was called up to the 2010 Northern Irish U23 squad for a few fixtures:

Michael Smith (Ballymena United) 04.09.88

http://www.irishfa.com/news/item/5862/international-challenge-trophy/

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/northern_ireland/8332371.stm

But it doesn't appear he made any appearances, as he isn't even listed here:

http://www.irishfa.com/news/item/5994/u23-squad-announced/

He also doesn't seem to have any ambition of playing for us, even if he is eligible, according to this article:

"Bristol Rovers defender Michael Smith is hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Gareth McAuley by eventually going on to represent Northern Ireland at international level."

This statement also seems to show that he hasn't actually managed to represent them yet either, as he still harbours the hope of representing them internationally, rather than he hopes to add to his international experience with NI. Not proof, but seems logical.

You won’t see me make excuses for our players.

How did it go wrong for Peters because of Yallop’s advice? Peters had 99 appearances for Ipswich, 99 appearances to cement a place on the team and he didn’t. Its one thing if Yallop said go to Ipswich and he never saw the pitch, but you can’t say Peters didn’t get a fair shake. At the end of the day people can only give you an opportunity, what happens to that opportunity is up to the player.

However, I’d be happy if Yallop gave Peters a chance in MLS I think Peters could make something of himself there and work his way back into the CMNT fold, but I don’t think Yallop owes Peters anything.

99 appearances, strongest point to date. At face value. But how many minutes? How many of those games were as a starter, and how many as a sub, or even last minute sub? 99 games isn't necessarily 99 full games, big difference.

Lets draw a parralel. Nedum Onuaha, almost carbon copy of Peters in terms of games played, only at Man City. Where is he now, playing for the manager that believed in him Mark Hughes, at QPR.

In fact. If Yallop really thought Peters was any good in the first place, doesn't one think he'd be trying to sign him now, not as a favor, but because he WANTS him on his team??

Mark my words, I think Peters is going to make the wait we had to see Nana play again look brief in comparison, if he plays again. And I wouldn't put my money on it.

I'm still confused as to what Yallop did wrong here? Why was it wrong for him to recommend Peters to Ipswich?

Players change over time. They don't develop at the same rate. Peters at 17 was a tricky winger with unbelievable pace. Lots of his like have come and gone. The problem we have in Canada is that our talent pool is shallow and every "can't miss" who does miss, like in any country, is extra painful because there's few of them.

Just because Frank Yallop rated him at 17 doesn't mean he should 8 years later. There are Alberta kids playing for FC Edmonton that were never chosen to represent the provincial team. They just kept developing at a rate that those who used to be ahead of them didn't. That's soccer and that's development. It's not a straight line.

not sure if this is gianni patino and not suer if we consider him canadian but i stumbled onto this. can anyone confirm? is this venezuela? http://www.balonazos.com/principal/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3931:estudiantes-de-caroni-tropezo-ante-anzoategui-perdiendo-2x1&catid=4:tercera-division&Itemid=16

I highly doubt it. Gianni Patina is 14 years old and would not be eligible to sign a pro contract in a foreign country (even if he was good enough, which i doubt)...

That is Venezuelan 3rd Division. The player in question plays on the reserve team of Deportivo Anzoátegui whose parent club is currently the league leader in the Venezuelan first division. That appears to be an adult league so like JPG I highly doubt it is the "Canadian except when it is inconvenient" Patino.

Yes it is the fifth tier overall and the 2nd highest amateur tier. Not a very high level so not very interesting unless this guy is very young.

Not that interesting. I think he is 19. He is playing there while in university. His U20 coach for Atlantic SC (USL - Super 20) is an alum. from the Nemelaer program and set this up while he was in school there. I have seen no mention of him since that game...
