Lars' Tromso still kicking:

TromsoIL kept alive their hopes of earning a place in the UEFA Cup knockout stages as Ole Martin Årst scored twice to help the Norwegian team to a 3-1 victory against FK Crvena Zvezda in Group E.

Both teams went into the game at the Alfheim stadium seeking their first points of the group stage, but the home side's need was the greater as they had already played two games to the Serbo-Montenegrin outfit's one. That hunger was reflected when the game started as Tromso began firmly on the front foot, taking the lead through Benjamin Kibebe midway through the half. Nicola Þigiã equalised two minutes later but Årst restored the lead before the interval and then added a second-half penalty as Steinar Nilsen's side secured a vital win.

Tromso finished the match as they had started it, looking to push forward at every opportunity, and midfielder Roar Christensen almost got the Norwegian side off to the best of starts, forcing Vladimir Stojkoviã into a full-length save with a blistering shot from 25 metres on ten minutes. The visitors offered little in return, although Lars Hirschfeld was called upon to keep out Duðan Basta's effort as Tromso continued to press and Patrice Bernier forced a stinging save from Stojkoviã on 20 minutes after a blistering volley.

The besieged goalkeeper could do nothing about Kibebe's fizzing long-range effort two minutes later, but his side soon regained parity when Þigiã headed in Basta's looping cross. The goal caught Tromso cold, but the home team kept their composure and remained patient, eventually reaping their reward when Årst made it 2-1 eight minutes before half-time. The visitors almost repeated their earlier trick with a rapid equaliser, but Joachim Walltin made a crucial block to deny Nenad Kovaèeviã, and that proved their last real opportunity.

Tromso were content to sit back on their lead and keep the ball in midfield after the restart, and with 16 minutes remaining Årst secured victory from the penalty spot after Milan Dudiã had felled Karim Essediri. The Norwegian side now lie third in Group E with three points, while Crvena Zvezda remain pointless at the bottom, although their chances have not yet been extinguished in what is proving to be a tight section.

Today in the CCC:

- Hume plays the whole match and scores the first goal in the 12th minute, and the fourth goal in the 93rd minute as Leicester defeat Sheffield United 4-2. Hume also picks up one of the ten yellow cards shown in the match, for dissent. Leicester are 14th.

- Pesch is nowhere to be seen as there are no goals between Brighton and Derby. Derby are 17th.

- Brennan comes on in the 42nd minute for Darren Huckerby, with Norwich trailing Coventry 2-1. Norwich tie it up in the 84th and it ends 2-2.

- Simpson is nowhere to be seen as a 93rd minute own goal sinks Millwall and gifts the points to Leeds. Millwall are still bottom.

- Still no Bircham as QPR claw back from two goals down to draw with Hull 2-2. QPR are 13th.

- Ipswich are away to Cardiff on Monday.

Margate 3-2 Hampton & Richmond Borough

Hampton slumped to their third successive defeat, yet were very unlucky to lose away at Margate. Elliott Godfrey scored a penalty, and Hampton had a goal controversially disallowed. Still waiting to hear whether Jon Henry-Hayden played.

Meanwhile, Henry-Hayden appeared in a large photo in the Friday 25 November edition of the Non-League Paper, which I hope to scan and post this weekend.

Radz sets up Brian McBride for the opener within 4 minutes and Fulham go on to a 2-1 victory over Bolton. Game looks to have been very chippy, lots of yellow cards, Radz with 3 fouls but no yellow. Bolton scores on a Legwinski own goal. Good win for Fulham.

McBride score a brace in that match. Radzinski with a hand in both goals.

Julian de Guzmán starts for Depor as defensive mid in a 4-2-3-1, but they fall at home to an inspired Villareal 0-2, and he's subbed out m. 66 for more firepower that did not hit the mark.

They stay in the top part of a very tight Spain table.

Radzinski played well, set up the first but he didn't actually have a hand in the second. That was McBride scoring directly off his own team's goal kick thanks to some really crap defending. Well taken goal though.

Daniel Fernanades grabs a shutout today as PAOK wins 2-0 at home to bottom of the table Akratitos.

Daniel had two key interventions, each just before the Paok goals in the second half. The team remains 5th, with 5 wins, four draws and just two losses in league play, 18 for (2nd best in the league) and 9 against (tied for third best defense). A tough team, if I am not mistaken they have not lost by more than a single goal in any competition this year.

LEICESTER.............4 Hume 12, 90, Smith 15, Hammond 74 SHEFF UTD............2 Kabba 52, Webber 90

LEICESTER turned on the style to record their best win of the season and bring a bad week for Sheffield United to a miserable close.

A draw at Wolves had seen Neil Warnock's team vacate the top spot for the first time since August.

The stalemate at Molineux followed a draw with struggling Millwall at Bramall Lane - the first time the Blades had gone two Championship games without a win this season.

And, to add to their problems, doubts surround the future of Warnock.

The Blades boss has been linked with the vacancy at Portsmouth, and if this was his last match the Foxes gave him a send-off to forget.

Inspired by Iain Hume and the tricky skills of on-loan Arsenal winger Ryan Smith, City went on a goal spree and manager Craig Levein said: "It was a terrific performance."

Against a defence shorn of Chris Morgan and Craig Short, Leicester wasted little time to exploit the makeshift rearguard.

Patrick McCarthy knocked Smith's cross into the path of Hume, who volleyed home.

Hume turned provider three minutes later, crossing for Smith to head past Paddy Kenny.

At the interval Warnock replaced the ineffective Keith Gillespie with Steve Kabba and it paid dividends within seven minutes when unmarked Kabba turned in Danny Webber's cross.

Elvis Hammond wasted two clear-cut chances but made no mistake when presented with a third by Hume in the 74th minute.

Hume crowned a superb display by firing into the roof of the net to add his second in stoppage time, but United refused to throw in the towel and Danny Webber reduced the deficit with a header.

MAN OF THE MATCH

IAIN HUME

Superb display crowned by two goals.

SHEFF UTD: Kenny 7, Jagielka 6, Bromby 6, Wright 5, Geary 5, Gillespie 4 (Kabba 5), Montgomery 6, Tonge 5 (Short 5), Quinn 5, Webber 6, Pericard 4 (Shipperley 5).

MANAGERS: Levein 8; Warnock 6

REFEREE: K Stroud 8

Very well. Had a thundering right footer blocked. Got worked over there a couple of times to-boot. Speaking of boots he put one in there himself towards the end.

If Radz isn't McBride's talisman I don't know what could be.

Fernando Aguiar came on in m. 57 and led Gondomar to a 2-4 comeback against Maia, in the Portuguese Liga de Honra (2nd).

With the team down 2-1 he scored one m. 75 and set up another in the win, which puts the team three points off the lead in Portugal's 2nd tier after 12 games.

Maia, I think, is where he lives, just outside of Porto.

A note from abola.pt, where it reads "Gondomar was very strong in the 2nd half, with Fernando Aguiar as the stand-out, with an assist and a goal."
