  1. Panama played very well this tournament. They didn't resort to cheap shots or diving like many of their Central American counterparts. I hope they qualify for the world cup.
  2. Definitely a little of both but Panama might be the region's most improved team. I really like Gabriel Torres. I'd love to see an MLS team snatch him up.
  3. I should have bought a lottery ticket. USA 3 Honduras 1 and Panama 2 Mexico 1. Looks like it will be a repeat of 2003.
  4. Don't count Panama out. They have been playing very well and Mexico have not. I could see Panama stealing the match.
  5. De Jong is quality. Haber just looks like a 3rd division player. If Canada can steal a goal on a set piece and clean up the marking they could walk away with a result.
  6. Lmao. The US was up 3-1 at half time with 80% of the possession. Martinique was the better side both the 1st and 2nd half against Canada.
  7. This is Canada's best chance to beat the US in a long time. On paper the US is a much better team BUT they are mired in their worst streak in recent history. They have a moron for a coach. Several deserving players were left off the roster in favor of guys who contribute very little. This is Mexico's cup to lose.
  8. This is best U20 cycle in US soccer history. We have a pool of more than 30 professional players, most of whom are already contributing to their club's first team. Josh Gatt plays in current top club in the Austrian 2nd division. A 5-0 loss in this case isn't as bad as it seems. A brand new back line is thrown on for the last part of the game, against some very strong attacking players with a man advantage, playing with the momentum as well.
  9. What if Bunbury ends up playing for the US, as he recently suggested he would be interested?
  10. I would take a wait and see approach about this guy. A lot of NCAA players have come to MLS with gaudy stats and flamed out. That said this guy is doing the smart thing and leaving after only 2 years. The guys who play 4 years of NCAA ball rarely do well. They rarely even get a better offer than a developmental contract.
  11. I don't see any possibility of a US-Canada friendly next year. Canada doesn't match up stylistically (is that even a word ?) with anyone we'll play against at the world cup. I definitely think Canada's best bet is to play against top nations who didn't make the world cup. Scotland, Ireland, Costa Rica, etc......would all be excellent opponents.
  12. Personally I thought it was pretty hot. I'd nail her like the savior []

I think this is a great idea. It's ridiculous that New Zealand could qualify for the world cup without playing anyone in FIFA's top 100.

Honduras bends over and implodes once again. Unbelievable. They have some of the best star power in concacaf, but just horrible consistency. I really feel for Honduras and hope the US trots out a reasonable squad and beats Costa Rica. Honduras would still have to beat El Salvador, but it's doable. Honduras can still take the 3rd spot if they win and Costa Rica draw. On the other head I do think Honduras would have the best chance in the repechaje. I would like to see 4 concacaf sides in the world cup. An interesting side note, Honduras has now lost to the US 4 times in the last 4 month
  15. Hehe that made me chuckle too, unless you consider being an MLS bench warmer "success"/
  16. Canada played very well today. Congrats on a very deserved victory. I like Simeon Jackson. It will be interesting to see him against better competition.
  17. I'm responding to amacpher, who wants to split up the final group. I believe that if Canada has 7-8 professional teams, and a decent federation they will qualify for the world cup regardless of the qualifying format. Maybe not every time, but they could be a regular participant.
  18. Your argument that Canada was a potential world cup qualifier doesn't hold any water considering that they only earned 2 points from a possible 18. Not to mention that they didn't win a single match, let alone a home match. Panama lost to El Salvador, the same El Salvador that so far has only won one home match out of 3, and has a grand total of 5 points from 5 games. Jamaica lost out on goal differential. They are the only team I have sympathy for. Canada had 8 qualifying matches, are the playing the Gold Cup. The CSA also has the opportunity to schedule matches on the numerous FIFA man
  19. Which world cup contender was weeded out after 3 months? I can't think of one. Being American has nothing to do with my objectivity, which is a pretty ignorant comment on your part. As an American one group or two has no effect on my country's chances. We'll most likely qualify regardless. A final round is the most fair way. Everyone plays everyone else the same number of times. There isn't any chance of a group of death because there is only one group. I don't see any logic in separating the final group other than allowing less deserving teams a better chance because one group was weak
  20. That still wouldn't be fair. A lot can change in the year between the semi-finals and finals of qualifying. I think the hex is the way to go, but if we went to an octet all teams should start with a fresh slate. I don't like the idea of semi-final results carrying over to the next round. How do you weight those results? Why should a win over the El Salvador count as much as a win over Costa Rica?
  21. Ouch, Terry Vaughen is one of the worst referees in concacaf. It wouldn't surprise me to see this game decided on a blown call. That said, on paper it looks to be an intriging match up. Ricardo Fuller is a dangerous striker. He'll keep your backline on it's toes.
  22. I would not be opposed to this. What I am dead set against is spliting the final group up. One final group is the fairest way. Everyone plays everyone else. The best teams advance. No group of death.
  23. I agree that they could do a better job seeding the teams. Maybe pass a rule that a group can't have more than one Carribbean team. I'd even be in favor on a octet, but spliting the final group in 2 groups is a very bad idea. Conacaf doesn't have very much depth. We need our bests sides to qualify to the world cup. Not to mention that if we had 2 final groups it totally kills the best concacaf match up in USA vs Mexico. Also, so what if a team can be eliminated after 2 games? One thing I like about our system compared to UEFA's is that the minnows get weeded out early. What would be th
