imported_n/a1394647443
Tks for headsup to sonofpaup L'Oeil Régional - Édition du 1 mai 2004 Catherine Mainville http://www.les2rives.com/orb/archives/articles.asp?article_id=47368&chaine=Kevin%20Courcelle Kevin Courcelle to play in Belgium Translation That is there. The player star of soccer of Mount-Saint-Hilaire, Kevin Courcelle, signed its first European contract. In 2005, it will play within Royal Excelsior de Mouscron, a Belgian club of soccer of the first division having an important school of formation. As of the autumn, the 16 year old player will move in in Belgium where it will finish his secondary studies there. In November, Kevin Courcelle had been invited to take part in a training course of evaluation with an aim of being allowed at the school of soccer Paris Saint-Germain. Finally allowed in division B, Kevin preferred to join much to the team of Belgium, which offered to him a place following a two weeks training course at the beginning of April. "I liked better to go to Belgium to live Paris, it affirms. Belgium resembles much Quebec, it is the same kind of medium. In Paris, people are ready to plant you at once a dagger in the back that you are turned over ", underlines it" soccerment "speaking. During one year, Kevin will finish its secondary fifth while playing the soccer the afternoon within the program sport-studies of Royal Excelsior de Mouscron. Its contract ensures then a year to him within the team with a two years option additional if it "holds out" and is maintained with best of its performances. Kevin had the occasion at the time of its stay to take part in its first official match within its future team (16 years and less). This first gained part 5-0 then enabled him to play another match with the team of less than 17 years, which ended in a washing with the account of 3-0. Level of higher play At the dawn of a new turning in its life, Kevin Courcelle is not said nervous for as much. On the contrary, he likes the quality of the play in Europe. "the level of play is definitely higher there, explains it. The European teams have a good tactic of play. They are also very strong technically, in particular to make pretences. The margin between the players is unperceivable. The players are very combative. When they have a goal to reach, they forward very there." Kevin had the chance besides to be measured with European teams at the time of the international Tournament of Artix in France where it was invited to take part for a second consecutive year. Organized for 18 years, this tournament has brought together each year 16 highly skilled teams. This year Spain, Belgium, Croatia, the United States and Canada were represented there. At the time of its first participation, Kevin Courcelle had allowed its team of the time, the Cosmos of Granby to take part with him in the event. However, Kevin ceased playing for Cosmos because of divergence from point of view as for the alignment of the team for the season 2004. Thus, it is in company of the F.C. Select Bank-South male U16 AAA, its new team for the season 2004, which it represented Quebec with this important French tournament. The team finished in second position and was classified among the five best teams of the tournament by the journalists assigned to the cover of the event. Pride of the CSVR With the Club of soccer of Valley-of-Richelieu (CSVR), one could not be prouder. Especially that it is the first time that a former player reaches such a level, indicates Mario Bourgault, president of the club. "Kevin is our star. It is a super athlete, same hardening as those which take part in Olympic, affirms it. It was always smashed for the soccer and always was beyond its limits. Players like that, there does not exist much about it." Like last year, Kevin will act this summer by way of trainer associated for the CSVR. Mr. Bourgault believes besides that its presence will make it possible to the other players to believe that it is as possible to bore in this sport as with hockey. "All the sports need models and Kevin is an example of success", explains Mario Bourgault. Within the framework of the 25e birthday of the club, Mr. Bourgault largely hopes to include Kevin with the festivities before his departure for Belgium. On its return for the estival holidays in 2005, Kevin will teach with the players of the CSVR the rudiments learned in Europe, question of returning the similar one to the club soccer where it made its beginnings. The summer of Kevin Courcelle is announced rather occupied. Whereas it continues an intensive drive, it will take share with the camp of selection of the Team of Quebec U16 for the Canadian Championship in Vancouver in July. Last year, it had gained the money medal with U15 at the time of the Championship in Calgary. Even with such a future in front of him, Kevin Courcelle keeps firmly the two feet on the ground. It known as grateful vis-a-vis with people who allowed him to achieve this goal: CSVR, where it made its beginnings, to the Team of Quebec, without forgetting his/her friends David and Veronique. From here its departure, Kevin especially hopes to benefit à.fond from its last five months in Quebec and from its season with the F.C. Select which will begin on May 12. Winnipeg Fury
Brampton Guardian: Soccer teen signs with team in France Described as a "late bloomer" Brampton soccer star Calvin Rosario is taking advantage of a rare opportunity. The 18-year old has signed a one-year deal to play soccer with Tours FC and is playing at the highest youth level in France. According to recent stats his team is in second place in their division in the French league. Rosario is an attacking midfielder and has been a regular starter with his team. According to his father Clayton Rosario, Calvin has always been considered "to small'' and is a "late bloomer''. He never made any provincial teams but Rosario, who is now 5-foot-11 has proven the doubters wrong. He is one of the few Canadian players who has earned the chance to play in Europe. Next year he will be eligible to play professional. Clayton along with his partner Francois Glasman run Shooting Stars International, an academy which trains elite soccer players. Clayton said the training that Calvin received through the academy has certainly helped his opportunity to play soccer in Europe. "It is because of his training and the contacts of my partner that gave him the chance,'' said Clayton. He said Glasman knows numerous coaches through out Europe and helped arrange the tryout. His coaches in France are impressed with Calvin's technical skills and he fits in well with the team's style of play. Clayton also has plenty of experience in soccer, having coached at the youth level. Calvin was born and raised in Brampton. He started playing soccer with the Chinguacousy Soccer Club, now the Brampton East Soccer Club. Last season he was a key player for the St. Marguerite d'Youville Panthers team which won the bronze medal at the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association (OFSAA) tournament. bettermirror
forgive my vagueness. there was a young man on the u17 national team, a defender, who is now signed on with 1860 Munchen. i can't remember his name, but he is from west vancouver. big article on him The Province. uproar was that he isn't NEARLY the most talented of his u17 compatriots. however, like roy keane as a young lad it was his determination that got him there. the skill will come later. he spent a year in europe on trial with various clubs. analyst
bettermirror, you're right there is someone who just signed to go over. His last named stated with a Mc, I think. In your post you indicated that "the skill would come later". You may wish to do a google search for an article by Dr. Istvan Balyi about "Elite Player Development", he is a professional sports planner currently employed by the BC Sports Council. In his article he quotes numerous studies which show that late specialization athletes like soccer and hockey players acquire skills between the ages 11-14, and after that it is very difficult for them to acquire skills, so it is unlikely the 17 year old will develop much more. bettermirror
i guess what i was referring to was a "calmness" on the ball. he's on the u17's so he pretty much has the skill he'll have, it's the composure he lacks. i akin him to roy keane in this manner as well (hehe, i am reading his autobiography right now!) i agree that skills are learned to age 14 to an extent. but 11 is a crucial year, but i have seen video where 5 and 6 year olds in holland are doing moves ronaldo would be proud of. i'd say ages 5-14 are the formative sporting periods. i digress from this topic tho as it requires its own thread. thanks for the information tho analyst. Also, the thread confirms that Lombardo has signed as well for Manchester City, so I'll add them both to the list. Lombardo was not offered a contract with Manchester City in the first place. Grizzly
In addition to Dylan Hughes to Regensburg, the Dutra trial at Siegen was unsuccesful and I am pretty sure that Canizales was also unsuccesful at Saarbruecken as about a week ago their coach said none of the trialists were what he was looking for and had been sent home. youllneverwalkalone
Could somebody tell me the Kevin Sharp story? I guess a 30 year-old who can't make the bench for S****horpe isn't all that interesting, but he seems to have had a pretty solid career in England. Why has he never been asked to play for Canada? One of the Leeds supporter sites with generally graphic details only have a "Youth/?" beside his name.

In the S****horpe thread, DJT says that he was asked to come over for 1998 WC qualifying by Lenarduzzi, but KS said he wasn't interested in playing for Canada. Thanks. It does seem like a bad career choice in retrospect. Did he think he would be called by England at the senior level???
beachesl
A Hungarian friend of mine emailed me and said that in last Sunday's paper. "A Hungarian 2nd division club tests 4 canadians" "The Pápa FC ,Jeremy Shepard 21 year old , Matthew O'Connor from Toronto Linx, Marko Bedentkovic from Toronto croatia, and another canadian from china: Christian Picanco trialling now"

It looks like Lombard-Pápa TFC (Arany Aszok Liga) (1). First division not second unless there has been a change. They last played in late November so it looks like a winter break. http://soccerway.com/results/index.php?a=c&c_id=68 http://www.rsssf.com/tablesh/hong05.html
