Guest Can. in UK

I have just had a look at the MLS rosters and there are a couple of players who were born in Canada who aren't on the list.

I was wondering if anyone has information on:

Andrew Williams (Chicago) Midfield - born in Toronto 09/23/1977

Mark Chung (Colorado) Midfield - born in Toronto 06/18/1970

(Williams seems to be rated quite highly.)

Robert Kerek (88 born) plays for SC Freiburg in Germany. He has recently been included in a trip with the U17 Canada team to Ireland. Also, Zach Kalthoff (88 born) is on trial with Birmingham.

Confirmation for Kerek: http://www.scfreiburg.com/handler/teams/U17-16/kader

What's the story on Kerek?? I know there used to be a strong Cdn presence in the area.

Guest Jeffery S.

I saw an article on Penafiel, Kevin de Serpa's Portugal club just promoted to top flight, and it seems he is still under contract for next season. They went to San Tomé for two friendlies mid May after the season ended. Hope he does stay on and can get some time with them vs. the big clubs.

I was browsing BigSoccer's forum and i came upon a name mentioned in the Yanks abroad section that may be of interest..

A player in Ireland, plays for Portadown, by the name of Cullen Feeney, defender was apparently born in Canada, but has some ties (not cap tied) to the US...i'm not sure if its been mentioned before but i'll throw it out there...

heres a couple links..

Yallop needs to cap this guy RIGHT AWAY before the Yanks steal him. :) Typical CSA asleep at the wheel again. This guy will be the next Joey Torchia, Luis and I guarantee it.

Add: Adam Wallace, KSV Roeselare, Belgium Second Division

Forward, Attacking Midfielder, 22

Adam grew up in Vancouver (where he was born) and Delta BC, and trained with Dale Mitchell, but was never named to start for a Canadian National side. He attended (and graduated from) the University of Vermont on a soccer scholarship, and when he didn't make the cut to the Canadian U-20 side, grabbed an offer to join the Jamaican U-20 team that competed at the 2001 WYC in Argentina (where he started). His father is from Jamaica.

He played the last season for KSV Roeselare, where he was a starter, and has just signed another contract with them for the coming year. For some reason, he was missed for our list. He hopes to get a transfer to an English club. He also has an Irish passport through his mother, so there are no visa issues.

He is still eligible to play for Canada, which he would prefer to do. He was cap-tied by the WYC, but is now eligible for Canada due to the changes by FIFA in the fall of 2003. He is on the Jamaican depth list, and understandably would jump at an opportunity to play for any senior national side.

I suspect that here may be other possible additions to the list due to the FIFA eligibility changes.

I'm not up on the implications of the recent FIFA changes, but I do remember Wallace playing for Jamaica.

He's probably long forgotten at the CSA (since he's been capped by jamaica) but if you know that he wants to switch to Canada, I would make a call to the CSA, Frank Yallop at the BC office.

I can't see him breaking into our starting line-up at the moment, but he's young and promising. We could use him on our depth chart.

No, the rule says that he may switch if he only played for the original country for less than the senior team before 21 and if he held a passport for the second team at the time he played for the first team. So, Wallace, for example, was captied before they changed the rules in October, 2003, but now he CAN play for the Canada senior team as long as he does not get a cap with the senior Jamaican team first.

The rule was brought in to free players (dozens of them), who were intentionally captied and captured by France on underage teams in numerous extra tournaments, like Kanoute now playing for Mali (who made the switch long after he turned 21), to play for other countries, but has also freed many players in other countries as well.
