Somewhat. It's likely because these games are midday and there isn't much else going on.

The broadcast situation for Canadian soccer has been so bad for so long that we get suspicious when games are actually on TV!

Yes I thought about the midday thing.

Probably reading too much into it to think this is indicative of something more.

TSN owns all FIFA tourney rights. The money was paid for senior men & women's World Cup rights. So, this can be viewed as free programming for TSN. Same reason why TSN has been showing futsal World Cup in recent weeks. Last year for men's u20, TSN basically showed every match live.

When CBC had the rights, they showed the youth tourneys online or pawned off to Sportsnet who would largely just show Canada women matches and semis/finals. Fox Sports is showing every u17 match on tv or online.

TSN also seems to be positioning itself as the soccer leader from Sportsnet since they have MLS, World Cup, Champions League, 50% of EPL and Canada. But compared to Sportsnet, they haven't gone all in since they don't show all EPL games on tv and regularly use NBC feed rather than staffing with their own people.

TSN has also been positioning itself as home of the champions - so it's a rare opportunity to show females raising a championship trophy.

Right. Thanks. I'd completely forgotten that they had the rights to everything.

It is on tsn.ca if you subscribe to cable.

Or this link is slated to have it but nothing on now.

Just watched Germany vs Venezuela stream off this site. Both teams looked good with Germany dominating first half, VZ dominating beginning of 2nd half and then Germany coming back to score the winner at 2-1.

So, both should be good tests for Canadian players to see where they stand in terms of development but it's going to be tough for Canada to get out of the group.

4 of the 5 goals were largely the result of weak goalkeeping. It seems like the goalkeeper position is becoming a weak link for Canadian youth teams.

No surprise Rose looked good. Regan at fullback looks to have potential. Dayes & Raimondo looked good as subs but want to see if they can do it over a full 90.

Team wise, good to see the comeback since Canadian football teams haven't historically shown enough mental strength and football IQ to make comebacks.

From the qualifying matches to now, Proulx still hasn't improved her decision making off crosses and regularly punches the ball rather than catching it. So, Priestman went with Zucchetto in first match but she made a mental error and looked weak as a shot stopper. At least Proulx made some goal saving saves.

German manager said this was the best she has seen her team play. So, holding them to 1-1 tie while being dominated from the 35 mins on is an okay result. From a tournament football view, getting a result was quite good. Two u17s in a row that Canada has tied Germany.

Back line looked organized and thwarted a number of German advances. There could be some senior team potential there. Midfield was run over and strikers were non-existent.

Rose is the only on the team capable of scoring that goal. But overall, she plays rather timidly - understandable with senior team but not so at u17 level. She also needs 1 or 2 players to complement her but unlike the senior team, there isn't one that has jelled with Rose yet.

Proulx is very agile, she bursts very well off a static position to block. Just going by those highlights.

Re keepers at this level, the NZ keeper was very strong vs. Spain today, only broke them down in last minutes. The Venezuela highlights showed a strong keeper too.

You have to remember that anyone can shoot high into a corner, stopping it when you are 5'8" or 5'9" is hard. Covering all the net too, you have to be wide and high when your stature is smaller. On free kicks, your walls are way lower too, so a shooter can go over or around much easier. So I forgive Proulx on the goal, a u-17 girls wall means less than in any other Fifa tournament. An u-17 women's keeper has to be amazingly agile to cover a goal.

A Canadian, Gabrielle ( Gabe ) Jillings, is on the New Zealand roster. From White Rock, BC,  Jillings is a midfielder  with Surrey United SC (98/99) who attended ( in 2015 ) the BC Soccer  High Performance  Program and subsequently trained with the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX program. She's been part of the NZ program since December 2015.

@tc-in-bc , Jillings, who was there for OFC qualifying, did not make the final cut for Jordan. She's not on their squad.

However, a Canadian (resident? citizen?) is on the Ghana roster. Ottawa South United's Kayza Massey.

She was starting keeper for the 0-5 loss to Japan. Tough start for her. :(

What a crazy goal by Venezuela to beat Cameroon!  It's worth watching the highlights just for that.

[ 2 ]  I had doubts that Priestman's side would get a result, so I was pleased that U17 CANWNT  got  well-earned point against U17 Germany today.  Giulia Gwinn was class for the Germans, you can see why she plays 90 minutes for SC Freiburg in the Frauen Bundesliga 1. Side note:  a few recent Canada Soccer articles are using the name " Bev Humphries-Priestman"  ( the hypen suggesting that this is her true last name and not a middle name )  and yet her own twitter account goes by the name  Bev Priestman  :   https://twitter.com/bev_priestman   This is a little confusing.

[ 3 ]  Deyna Castellanos had a brace today against U17 Cameroon,  including what's likely the "goal of the tournament". In addition, she's having a good NCAA season with 5 goals in 8 matches for Florida State. She's also 2 inches taller than she was in 2014 ( back then she was 5'-5" and now she's 5'-7" )  It's not going be easy, but If Priestman's side can contain Deyna Castellanos then I think   U17 CANWNT will advance. Eager for the rematch.
