  2. Agreed. Hopefully, if they have taken a big lead, Corbeanu will get a run out.
  3. Thanks for sharing. Confirms that she did apply for the head coaching position and lost out to Priestman. Priestman offered Rhian a position within her coaching staff, but Rhian turned it down. She recognized that she would have to leave in order to get the experience to be hired as the CWNT head coach.
  4. It is just a short term contract until Wiegman takes over in September. It will be a good experience for her, but I would be surprised if she remains an assistant after that.
  5. I don't know if Cloé will be called or not. She did obtain her Icelandic citizenship in June 2019. However, as of last summer, FIFA said she did not meet its residency requirement to play for Iceland. The Iceland FA is working with FIFA to have the issue resolved. https://www.visir.is/g/20201989968d/jon-thor-um-cloe-hun-upp-fyllir-ekki-krofur-fifa- In the past, Cloé has sounded very open to the idea of playing for Iceland: https://www.frettabladid.is/sport/bestu-astur-sem-eg-hef-upplifa/
  6. Wilkinson is stepping down as Head Coach of the U-17 and U-20 National Teams and as Assistant Coach of the CWNT. https://canadasoccer.com/news/canada-soccer-announces-departure-of-womens-national-youth-team-head-coach-rhian-wilkinson/ In a personal statement released on Twitter, she talks about moving on to learn and grow, but doesn't say what the next stage of her career will be.
  7. Canadians selected in the 2021 NWSL Draft include: - Deanne Rose selected 10th overall by North Carolina Courage - Victoria Pickett selected 15th overall by Kansas City NWSL (https://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/victoria-pickett-nwsl-canada-draft-1.5871403)
  8. I am very happy to see that the CWNT will be able to get some quality matches in! As of late November, the Tournoi de France was also scheduled to play around the same time (February 15-25). Nothing has been formally announced though. Meanwhile, Sweden, Portugal, Denmark, and Norway were supposed to play in the Algarve Cup, but it has been cancelled for 2021.
  9. Zadorsky has signed a permanent deal with Spurs until the end of the 2020/21 season. She had been on loan from Orlando until the end of the 2020 calendar year. https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/12181468/tottenham-make-alanna-kennedy-shelina-zadorsky-deals-permanent
  10. 1. Alphonso Davies 2. Jonathan David 3. Scott Arfield 4. Atiba Hutchinson 5. Stephen Eustaquio
  11. I wonder when the CSA is going to announce that the IMG Academy is our new "National Soccer Stadium"...
  12. Interesting quote from this ESPN article: "According to reports in France, the league has obtained a payment of €100m -- broken up as €64m now and €36m in January 2021 -- from Mediapro in exchange for not suing them for breach of contract." https://www.espn.com/soccer/french-ligue-1/story/4260001/ligue-1-scraps-tv-deal-following-payment-dispute-sources
  13. The Guardian and the Offside Rules Podcast have published the latest version of their annual rankings. https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2020/dec/08/the-100-best-female-footballers-in-the-world-2020 For 2020, the rankings are based on votes made by 88 judges who consist of former players, current/former managers, and media. Judges with a Canadian connection include: Rhian Wilkinson, Harjeet Johal, and Sandra Prusina. More on how the rankings were done can be found here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/dec/07/how-the-guardian-ranked-the-100-best-female-footballe
  14. Hoilett gets the start for Cardiff City v. Barnsley. Scores in the 4th minute. That is his first of the season.
  15. I'm not surprised the CSA went with Priestman given her previous connection to the program and its players as well as the fact that England is going in a new direction too. I was not impressed with Priestman's results at the youth level (especially the 2018 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship) and think she was fortunate to have Huitema in all her squads. That being said, I am pleased that the CSA didn't promote Wilkinson to the top job...at least not yet.
