This is Cameroon's first time playing in the U-17 WWC. Germany and Venezuela won their resepctive championships to qualify. tc-in-bc
Deyna Castellanos is a “ phenom ” who is putting women soccer on the map in Venezuela. In March, 2016, she scored the game winning goal -- in front of 41 000 screaming spectators -- against U17 Brazil leading U17 Venezuala to a first place finish in the 2016 South American U17 women’s championship. This tournament ( which was hosted by Venezuela ) serves as CONNEBOL’s qualifiers to the 2016 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup ( Jordan ).. Deyna Castellanos was also the tournament’s golden boot winner with 12 goals : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlrO-huJCKM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OXqcUKcSY8 Two years ago, Deyna Castellanos was the co-winner of the golden boot (along with team mate Gabriela Garcia) of the 2014 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup ( Costa Rica ). U17 Venezuala finished fourth in the tournament which included eliminating U17 CANWNT in the quarters finals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5BGEYPQ1eA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUk-jyfmmbA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg5fGiTqDU8 In 2015, Deyna Castellanos got free English lessons from the University of Manitoba with the hope of recruiting her to the Bisons. No luck there, Deyna Castellanos will be going to Florida State (Seminoles) NCAA div 1 , in August 2016: http://www.gobisons.ca/news/2015/5/9/WSOC_0509151135.aspx http://www.lapatilla.com/site/2016/05/12/deyna-castellanos-se-alista-para-jordania-y-florida-state/ The rematch between U17 CANWNT and U17 Venezuela ( October 7, 2016 ) should prove interesting. tc-in-bc
CFA International Women Youth Football Tournament 2016 Weifang : [ 1 ] A tough loss for Priestman's side in the opener. tc-in-bc
Re. Raimondo. When one adds today's result to her Canada Soccer stats; she's has seven goals in ten appearances. These are good numbers and she's a promising player for Canada.

tc-in-bc
CFA International Women Youth Football Tournament 2016 Weifang China U17 1 - 0 CANWNT U17 [ 1 ] CANWNT U17 were playing a 4 -1-4-1 which at times became five in the middle -- defending and disrupting . China U17 had a lot more of the ball and more attacking intent, but were not truly dangerous in possession. China U17’s game winning goal came in the last minutes of the first half when CANWNT U17 were pressing in the attacking third and then turned the ball over at the top of the 18 yard box. China U17 , on the break, were able to race down the pitch in numbers and set up their attacking shape in 18 yard box before CANWNT U17 could get their defence set. Consequently, a cross from the left ,by China U17, found a open player ,backpost , for a goal by a header . [ 2 ] The downside of CANWNT U17’s defensive posture was that they didn’t generate a lot offensively. At the 26’, CANWNT U17 created a turnover in the midfield and Stratigakis came out with the ball and took a strike which hit the post; the rebound then fell to Laroche who shot it over the net. At the 74’ direct play from Canada’s back line into the midfield was flicked on to become a partial breakaway on the left side by Raimondo. The Chinese defender did not give up on the play and closed down enough space to only give Raimondo a tight angle shot which the keeper easily saved. [ 3 ] In the recent past, CANWNT U17 have been porous defensively. Clearly, Priestman has tightened things up a little and that should serve them well in the upcoming U17 WWC in Jordan. Their first match is against U17 Venezuela – a very attack-minded side. [ 4 ] Thought that the centerback for CANWNT U17 played well .( American, Hannah Taylor? )
tc-in-bc
[ 1 ] So Kennedy Faulknor picked up a concussion the 2016 CONCACAF Women's U17 Championship; the third match of group stage, a 2-1 loss to U17 Haiti ( March 2016 ). She apparently was cleared to start training on June 15, 2016 and is hoping to be fit enough, in time, to participate in the FIFA U17 WWC - Jordan 2016. http://sharenews.com/soccer-star-cleared-to-begin-training-after-concussion/ [ 2 ] An interesting point in the article is that Faulknor has committed to UCLA for 2017.( other Canadians going to UCLA in the near future: Jessie Fleming, Shana Flynn.) Olympique_de_Marseille
We play Cameroon on the 30th but first they will play a friendly vs Brazil on the 25th in Jordan. http://fecafoot-officiel.com/?p=6573 The German squad:http://www.dfb.de/u-17-juniorinnen/wm-2016-in-jordanien/team-und-trainer/http://www.dfb.de/en/news/detail/squad-for-u17-world-cup-in-jordan-154058/ The Vinotinto squad (obviously with phenom Deyna Castellanos this time unlike the friendlies vs the US):http://www.federacionvenezolanadefutbol.org/ve/index.php/2013-03-30-17-38-04/femenino/2893-la-vinotinto-sub-17-emprende-vuelo-hacia-jordania They also arrive in Jordan early for friendlies vs ("la selección anfitriona" the hosts then? tc-in-bc
[ 1 ] Germany won the 2016 UEFA European Women's U17 Championship last May and their team productivity was quite balanced. Multi-point efforts from : 3 forwards (Buhl, Stolze, and Ziegler) , 3 midfielders ( Muller, Minge, and Gwinn ) and 1 defender ( Pawollek ). An interesting point here is that forward Ziegler and defender Pawollek are also listed as midfielders. Five of the German U17 players are currently playing minutes with their senior teams in Frauen Bundesliga 1 ( a league comparable to the NWSL ): Anna Lena Rieke with Jena, Tanja Pawollek with Frankfurt and Klara Buhl, Janina Minge and Giulia Gwinn , all three with SC Freiburg. Gwinn is probably Germany's best player; she plays 90 minutes a game with SC Freiburg and she led Germany with assists ( five ) in the 2016 UEFA European Women's U17 Championship http://www.uefa.com/womensunder17/season=2016/matches/round=2000614/match=2019909/postmatch/report/index.html#siems+spot+kick+seals+germany+title+success [ 2 ] There are no U17 CANWNT players playing in the NWSL. That said, Stratigakis, Raimondo and Kats did play well for Aurora United in League One Ontario this past summer ( got playing time and were productive ). tc-in-bc
[ 1 ] Looks like only 19 players out of a 21 player squad. Missing from the photo : maybe Deanne Rose, maybe Kennedy Faulknor ( who got injured in March ) , maybe a third goal keeper ? [ 2 ] An educated guess at the roster in the photo: Goal Keepers: Proulx, Zucchetto Defenders: Regan, Taylor, L'Esperance, Chang, Cathro Midfielders: Ibrahim, Grosso, Hansen, Stratigakis, Shaw, Guay, Kats Forwards: LaRoche, Huitema, Raimondo, Dayes, Riviere

tc-in-bc
That's a frightening result. U17 Brazil are not weak side. They just recently destroyed the host Jordan in a friendly ( 7 - 0 ) a few days ago. They played two friendlies with USWNT U17 in August -- both draws. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7npcIaEUz8 http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2016/08/13/19/00/160813-u17wnt-draws-brazil-1-1-before-2278-fans-in-holland-michigan And as reminder, U17 USWNT destroyed U17 CANWNT in CONCACAF qualifiers. in March. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku6Koe1-JAo Finally U17 Brazil only lost to U17 Venezuala ( Canada's Group B third match opponent ) by a single goal ( a Castellanos game winner ) to finish second in CONMEBOL.in March. According to the Brazillian website game report, U17 Brazil coach Luiszao had this to say about U17 Cameroon: "They are very strong and very fast and ended up being hard for us to chase" http://www.cbf.com.br/noticias/selecao-base-feminina/sub-17-analisa-amistosos-pre-mundial Looks like U17 CANWNT are in for three tough games.
