Toronto FC @ Vancouver Whitecaps - May 14th

Recommended Posts

TFC makes the long trek west to play the Caps. Whitecaps are going to captain Teibert again, and might play the younger guys again. This leg could be interesting, because it looks like TFC are going to start their A squad. Will Robinson start his A squad as well? Is the CCL any kind of priority for the Caps this year? They've never won it, but they currently look like the best Canadian MLS side and perhaps see this year as a breakthrough season for advancing in the MLS playoffs.

Striker is a bit of an issue here, Hurtado has basically started two games in the last week and Salgado and Manneh have played a lot as well. I would go with Salgado, Mezquida, Manneh and ? (Haynes?) as the top four with Morales coming on as a sub depending on his fitness.

Hmm....

I'm left wondering if the officiating crews from tonight's matches all drank out of the same well growing up as children.

You know, that one down there by Rob's Auto-Wrecking Yard out by those rail yards next to old iron smelter.

Wouldn't that be a coincidence?

That didn't take long. Two calls (three maybe) in both boxes go against Vancouver. No foul given against Hagglund, Henry offside on the TFC goal. Then a clear penalty on a Morgan tackle denied.

A clear penalty on Morgan?  Please.  Hurtado flicked the ball behind him and ran into Morgan, never a penalty.

Not TFC-Whitecaps related, but the Eddies-Impact game made the sports segment of the tonight's local CBC News here in Ottawa.

Trust me, that means we have come a LONG way in the exposure of the V's Cup. The local news outlets here barely care about Fury, so seeing Impact-Eddies highlights/exposure was really cool.

How good is Teibert?  GOOD.  Incredible passing range.

Nice to see future MNT stars in this year's V Cup.  Even as we're not even done the semis this is already the best Canadian championship ever from a Canadian perspective.  Every club has played Canadians and we've seen some perform and others falter.
