ThiKu
Two superb matches. Let's get all the best young talent we can. u23 squad with a couple of experienced guys to share their wisdom and help bring the players along. I am thinking guys like Will Johnson. Obinna
How about we get a coach first, hmmm? Better to make the right choice than rush a decision, but really what is the normal time for a vacancy like this? On MLSsoccer.com the report states we may not get our man until the GC, that seems like a LONG time to me to put a head coach in place.
Sam
Great work from the CSA organizing a second friendly here when the demand is almost zero. Also I think there is no great rush to put in a full-time coach. I mean as long as we got a good one before the Gold Cup hopefully he'll be there for 2 full Gold Cups before World Cup Qualifying starts.
jonovision
This is our most serious January prep in years, but it seems like a waste given it's in a pretty unimportant year and without a coach.

Obinna
Possible roster for January camp: Hirschfeld (34) Stamatopoulos (33) Tiebert (20) Morgan (21) Henry (19) Hainualt (26) Jakovic (27) Hamilton (24) Attakora (23) deGuzman (31) Bernier (33) Ledgerwood (27) Johnson (25) Saiko (23) Bekker (22) Cavallini (20) DeRosario (34) Ricketts (25) Porter (22) Clarke (19) Average age is 23.9, so the squad is alot younger, but we also have enough veterans in there to cope with who ever the USA calls in. Starting line up: ---------------------Lars-------------------- Henry------Hainualt-------Jakovic------Morgan -------------de Guzman--Bernier/Johnson------ ------------------DeRosario------------------- ----------Ricketts-----------Cavallini-----------
Obinna
Me thinks some of this may have been arranged pre-8-1. I choose to interpret this camp as a sign the 8-1 drubbing has forced CSA to get serious.
A_Gagne
Who do you guys (& gals) think will get the nod for interim coach? CSA has stated that they will likely fill it internally or with someone familiar to the national team (and player pool), however, Fonseca is not going to fill it and Dasovic appears occupied with the U20s (who have a camp soon after). http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/story/2012/12/17/sp-soccer-concacaf-friendly-canada-usa.html?cmp=rss Add to that the fact that Collin Miller is newly employed at FC Edmonton. My hope is that they don't give it to someone who's actually under consideration to take the job permanently, as I think that would biased the results of their hiring process. (We all saw how that worked out last time) Thoughts?...
Ivanovski94
I think if the squad is going to be experimental, for keepers why not call up Borjan if available, but Jordan Santiago is playing and what about giving a good keeper an opportunity to showcase himself.... michal misiewicz
Obinna
Bojan won't be available and neither would Santiago I would imagine. I wouldn't be opposed to getting misiewicz a look if we really need a third keeper, but he couldn't hold down a spot at FCE. I would really like to see that kid find a club. Max
I wouldn't pick up any player 30+. Goalkeepers are different story, but still 2 of them will be 38 and 37 for the next WCQ. Chencinski and Borjan are in my books.

Starting line up: ---------------------Lars-------------------- Henry------Hainualt-------Jakovic------Morgan -------------de Guzman--Bernier/Johnson------ ------------------DeRosario------------------- ----------Ricketts-----------Cavallini----------- We won't be coping well with the US if we only start 10 players. madmonte
Sorry I didn't read this thread thoroughly, just want to say that I'm definitely excited that we have TWO friendlies in January to evaluate talent and watch our team. That alone is a huge change over previous years.
Keegan
Like Obinna, I do not recall him announcing any retirement from the MNT. Here is what he said after the Honduras game (through a butchered translation): "I knew it was my last mile with Team Canada and I wanted to reach the plateau of 50 games with the national team, which is a feat because you should know that our country does not fight much parties on the international scene. But, my counter will stop at 49. Needless to say I do not like the last image I'll remember my last match with Canada. All hopes have soared in recent years. It was at the door to go in the final round. Fortunately, my career has given me more memories. " http://www.rds.ca/impact/chroniques/349655.html I think it's the right move on his part, sad though
rob.notenboom
What do you think the probability is of these games being televised? Probably better for the US game, but it would be cool if we could watch them both. Would love to see some new blood and see how they perform for the senior side.
