He was getting old (still captain of the team) and was a defensive midfielder. 1 player less to compete with for Atiba. SCF08 Posted July 17, 2010 Author Share Posted July 17, 2010 Atiba played well. Really intelligent movement, hardly lost the ball and tracked back nicely on one occasion. Final result 1-0. Not a lot of created chances in the second half. Ipswich improved a lot and PSV didn't really bother pushing on like they did first half. And Jaime Peters did okay first half. HSV have had an offer accepted as well recently but Afellay turned them down as well. There is some interest from Schalke 04 and Juventus (they are set to offload Diego to Wolfsburg). jonovision Posted August 26, 2010 Share Posted August 26, 2010 Atiba did well in midfield. He seemed to mesh well with his teammates, mostly making the safe pass but usually maintaining possession. Got forward occasionally, one or two giveaways that didn't amount to anything. It's hard to get a good read when the opponent is so inferior. But I saw a bit of the Eredivisie match on the weekend and he was solid in that one as well. Even without Afellay healthy PSV do have a deep squad, so you can be certain that if Atiba was disappointing he wouldn't remain in the lineup.
