Lord Bob
And just so we're clear, DontPanic, because I notice you didn't list it in the list of things we'll need money for: the CUC25 departure fee at the airport is out of our pocket or covered in our package? Tuscan
Do we need to bring things to be able to plug stuff in with, and by that garbled mess I mean do we need power converters for the electrical outlets? I can't remember if we needed those the last time my family was in Cuba.
Lord Bob
Power in Cuba is 220V standard two-prong, so Canadians will need a voltage converter. A surge protector is advised for sensitive electronics as the power isn't reliable.
Moldy9
ATTENTION, ATTENTION. Just spoke with a contact from the Canadian Embassy in Havana. I was told the likely hood of us finding a place to go drink judging by our size will be close to impossible. There is an alternative though: the Embassy is having a beer call with hotdogs and burgers at 5pm, you'll have to pay in pesos. What everyone will need to do in order to get in is to have your Cdn passport on you. I'll leave it up to the organizers of this trip if you want to do this. The embassy is 20 blocks away from the stadium. Apparently they are going to attempt to do something special, don't know what that means. Any of you have contacts with any of the players, or CSA to see if they'd make the beer call there? With a Canadian victory would be a great party, with a loss... don't even want to think about that! King Dave
I'm down for a beer call AND hot dogs @ the Canadian Embassy! Wish I had of grabbed that Trudeau mask a few years back. Trudeau mask, sport jacket and a speedo! Rocking the embassy KD styly. KD.

smiddy
Just curious because its been a while since my last Canada match. Do we have an award for player of the match? I was thinking about bringing a Canadian dinner jacket. Sew a Voyageurs patch on the chest. Present it to the player. Just throwing it out there. Sam
This sounds pretty good - but I thought Trevor had already set up something for us post game. Isn't what we really need somewhere to go drink pre-game?
Tuscan
That'll be one hell of a lunch if we're pre-drinking hard pre-game.

We went to the embassy in Kiev before Canada vs Ukraine in 2010 for their pub night and had a great time. Like you said, you just need a passport to get in and remember that cameras are not allowed in the embassy, but the embassy in Kiev had lockers for that situation so the Havana one probably does too. King Dave
I am all over the embassy. We win and march with flags/banners 20 blocks to the embassy. Sounds like a plan. KD.
King Dave
I've never been kicked out of an Embassey for being loud and shirtless. KD.
matthew
If Trevor has us sorted on game day (don't we tour Havana that day post game?), then that works for me, but I am definitely into going to the Canadian embassy.
Tuscan
That could be interesting. What would there be to do at the embassy?
gator
Even if something else has been planned for the post game I think it would be cool to stop by and have a beer or two in the Emabassy! I like the sound of that!
DontPanic
We can always look at doing both. Post tour/dinner and embassy. The idea is to make this an unforgettably amazing trip for everyone.
zeelaw
Is there a bus going right back to the hotel if we lose. Because that's all I'd really want to do after.
Tuscan
Nah whatever, we're there so let's party it up! Win draw loss, its party time. Just as a disclaimer, I will be crushed if we lose, not like I dont give a ****.
Sam
Just picked up some soccer balls at a deal from my local soccer store to bring down to the orphanage in Cuba! Can't believe this game is only a week away!
Lord Bob
Time for my annual appeal. Do you have two of the three Canadian "championship banners" shown in the middle of this banner panorama? (Click for a larger shot). Are you coming to Cuba or know somebody who is? Then please contact me as soon as possible. I have the third banner; it was separated from its friends at the 2009 Gold Cup. I have no idea where the other two are and would like to re-unite them. If you can bring the other two to Cuba and I can bring the third, we can hang them up and then the banners can go back, as a trio, to Toronto for World Cup qualifying. Sam
Just as an aside I love those champions banners. Also are we bringing Super Canucks down?
Lord Bob
Just as an aside I love those champions banners. I know, right? This has been bugging me for three years. I think they were only ever used at the two Gold Cup games.

Canada1
Tru Voyageurs. Have a fantastic time and do Canada proud. As much as my wife and I would have liked to take part in the trip it just wasn't going to work out this time. Keep in touch on this thread to inform us on your travels and the lead up to the match.
