Another day, another draw for Austria Klagenfurt (1-1). Kennedy played 88 minutes in the centre of defense.

On the last day of the Ykkonen, Boakai played 90 minutes and won with Ekenas at Club 04. Hocine was not in the squad. Ekenas ended third place and misses out of the promotion / relegation playoffs.

From the Veikkausliiga, TPS is doomed to play that p/r playoffs. They are 0-2 behind ATM against the Champions HJK Helsinki. Viscosi and McKendry are playing form the start.

In Germany Regionalliga West, Froese and Boakye are facing off each other. Düsseldorf is leading 1-2 (first goal was by Froese). Good to say him getting back into games. I wonder if he still get's a shot in the Bundesliga with the first side.

EDIT: Boakeye did start for Köln 2, he's listed on the DFB-site as one of two centre forwards and was subbed after 55 minutes. Froese played 84 minutes and as I said scored the first goal. This derby between Collogne and Düsseldorf ended in a 2-3 for Fortuna.

Ballou came on m. 71 with Barça B down 1-0 against Espanyol B, and it stayed that way.

I see he is not training with the 1st team today. As they have a Cup tie away this week to a third tier team, I thought he might end up in on the mix for that game...could be still though. Or maybe we'll get to see him in the return leg if they get a result away.

I'm hoping to see At Madrid tomorrow eve in the Copa, who are playing a 4th tier team from a Barcelona neighbourhood, Sant Andreu.

Any insight as to why he came off the bench? Squad rotation or did someone perform while he was away?

Seems odd to have a guy train with the first team and then be used as a sub for the B squad.. unless of course he’s being rested for the first team cup game, which would be amazing.  He’s only eligible for Copa Del Rey if he’s to make a first team appearance so let’s hope this is it!

It's just squad rotation nothing more. Training the odd day with the A team doesn't guarantee anything.

Ballou is an outside attacking player too so depending on the game you might do without.

Against Espanyol it is possible you might play longstanding academy  players as the rivalry is fierce.

In any case Espanyol B is really at the same level and their academy is amongst the top 6-8 in Spain.

JLL is in goal for 5th division Chemie as they play 2nd division Paderborn in the round of 32 of the German Cup. Chemie is the only lower division team still left in the competition and knocked off a 2nd division team in the previous round. Not looking hopeful for a repeat of that now as they are losing 2-0 in the first half. No Massih-Wassey on the pitch or bench for Paderborn, must still be injured. Here is a live feed: http://www.sb2.live/2018/10/chemie-leipzig-vs-paderborn-dfb-cup.html#video-0

Ballou has not been called into the 1st team for the Cup game tonight vs. Cultural Leonesa.

Hoping he will see minutes for the home leg. Cup rules in Spain restricts the # of players not from the first team roster who can be called up, think it is 4-5.

In contrasting news, Malcolm, who would be the first in line as an attacking option for the Barça first team, has asked to be transfered out in the winter break, as he has not played since we signed him. So that would, potentially, open things up for Ballou.

You’re probably right but I’ve never heard of this and can’t find it anywhere (en anglais).

The Spanish federation rules (which are spread out over various articles) stipulate that for Copa del Rey, participating teams have to play at least 7 players from the first team at all times, regardless of what the team's division is (in this case Barça 1st team). So that they can play 4 from a second or B team. And they can call up a maximum of 6 players who are not on the 1st team roster in total.

I don't know this, I just looked it up. It is basically so top teams do not downgrade excessively when playing lesser sides, to ensure the fans of those teams are actually seeing the first team of the rival play. And also to ensure that no team might fall to the temptation of throwing the Cup in a pinch, eg, when the league is going badly, or there are a lot o injuries on the first team roster.

Last night Ebro, a 2B team that got a 1st half red, had Valencia down 1-0, before they lost it 1-2. And Sant Andreu, a 4th tier team, lost to At Madrid 0-1 but hit the crossbar late and had another two clear chances to tie it. The competition is tough, unfortunately they play home and away these rounds and upsets are harder to see.
