News on Kevin de Serpa, Portuguese sites confirm he has signed for Penafiel, but as of the 8th he was still waiting for the international transfer to come through. No word on Leggatt at all. Penafiel beat Ovarense today 3-1 and is four points off the 2nd div lead.

Marco Bras only appears as a Naval player last season, I see no info on him being with them this one. Perhaps he is on the 2nd team.

As for Terroso at Lourinhanense, I think this team last the category and must now be in 4th tier. Will confirm.

For those of you that read French a bit better than I do, Bxl Boy on the French-language forum is indicating some sort of promotion for Milad Rahmati with Chareloi in Belgium.

Yes, here is the translation of what BXL Boy was saying:

Milad Rahmati has been promoted to Charleroi's first team. Another player to watch.

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks!

I wonder if he actually did play any 'first team' games last year?

If you link into the page with the photo, there is a list of games played for each player. He has none to date with the first team, if that is indeed up to date.

Xausa may no longer be a Canuck abroad - you may recall that he only signed a 6 months deal with Falkirk, and according to a poster on bigsoccer.com the Vancouver Sun reports that Lenarduzzi is reporting (how's that for a direct source :) ) that they are looking to sign Xausa to a multi-year contract.

Looks like Davide will be back with the Whitecaps

Striker pairing give boss Hughes timely reminder

ALAN FAIRLEY

FALKIRK player/manager John Hughes may bee looking for a new striker to bolster his side for the second half of the season but his current first choice front men, Jason Lee and Davide Xausa, would have put a smile on his face on Saturday.

Both players found the net as the Bairns overcame Yogi’s old club, Ayr United, to progress to the fourth round of the Scottish Cup where they have been rewarded with a home tie against either Aberdeen or Dundee.

"I was pleased for Davide," said Hughes afterwards, "he’s been working hard lately without finding the net so the goal, his first since joining us, will give his confidence a boost. Its unfortunate for us that he’s going back to Canada next month but at least he’ll be with us for the next round. It’s not beyond the capabilities of the players here to turn over either Aberdeen or Dundee, especially as we’re at home. We have to turn Ochilview into a fortress for this one."

Falkirk, who hadn’t managed to beat Ayr in their two league encounters this season, opened the scoring through Lee in the 20th minute but the architect of the goal was former Hibs midfielder Russell Latapy whose shot struck keeper Ludovic Roy before ending up at the feet of Lee who had no difficulty in steering the ball over the line from close range.

David Craig equalised for Ayr eight minutes later with a well struck free kick but the Bairns secured their passage to the Round Four when Xausa finished off a low cross from strike partner Lee 15 minutes from time.

"We haven’t much luck in recent weeks," reflected Hughes, "but today we were rewarded for all the good football we’ve been playing."

Somebody else could do Canadian players in the A-league, if they wish, but whoever does it probably going to have to wait a few months until we know the rosters for the upcoming season. And these rosters can change quite a bit from year to year....the Lynx might not have any players left from last season the way things are going.

Jim Larkin - Cleveland

Hector Marinaro - Cleveland

Nevio Pizzolitto - Cleveland

Martin Dugas - Dallas

Martin Nash - Dallas

Giuliano Oliviero - Milwaukee

Semir Mesanovic - Milwaukee

Jason Crnic, a striker and Roberto Ferrari, a goalkeeper with Hamilton Thunder, are both on trial with Croatian First Division side NK Inter Zapresic, while Ryan Thompson is well established now with Hadjuk Split, one of the high profile teams in Croatia and Europe. Hamilton Thunder is having good success with their more talented players with no less than five on trial or signed in Europe.

Edgar Bartolomeu, a 27 year old defender earlier with Brampton Hitmen, completed his Rookie Year with NY/NJ Metrostars of Major League Soccer with 13 games last year and has been retained for the upcoming season

metrofanatic.com reported on 2/22 that Edgar did not accompany the Metrostars to their pre-season training camp in La Manga, Spain. Rumor is that he has been cut.

The league roster compliance deadline was this Monday but MLS has not released the official waiver list. Due to Edgar's Senior International roster status, he'll have difficulties latching on with another MLS squad.

The Metros are also looking at 2 potential Senior Internationals to fill Edgar's spot: Austin McCann of Hearts (a left back) and Gary Hamilton, a forward with Portadown of N. Ireland.

Marin Pusek was waived by San Jose before the Quakes left for pre-season training in Spain.

Olivier Occean (New York) and Adrian Cann (Colorado) seem to have very good chances of making their respective teams.
