Big_M
guess they still believe in that best roster in the cpl thing...wasnt amazing but wasnt terrible either...6th in 2022 5th in 2023 and 5th this year...could see him getting another head coaching job somewhere like valour once dos santos is gone
shermanator
Guessing the owners wanted to get their own manager in but I'm not sure why now vs the past offseason. During his time at Cavalry a lot of people credited Nash for the club's success. York has not been good with him in charge but I think a large part of that is the poor roster that York has put together. How much of that roster is his doing vs Angus McNab (who i think was an absolute disaster and couldn't be bothered to be in the same country as the club he ran) I'm not sure. Kent
Mediocre results from a mediocre roster, but to be fair my instinct is that he is a mediocre coach. If they are aiming higher than that, great. I don't have any complaints with the tactics or substitutions etc. I've just never been inspired when he spoke, including watching behind the scenes videos of him addressing the team. Best of luck to him though, hope he lands on his feet. Ivan and narduch
Ozzie_the_parrot
Managerial changes don't tend to happen midseason in CanPL because of the salary cap for staff that I think is still very much in place. Think this points to some dispute happening behind the scenes given their start to the season hasn't been that bad.

This club finally needs a coach who can get results, just trying to make the playoffs every year is not good enough in this market . Nash should never have started the season . Big_M
he did have yorks best ever 28 game season in 2023 with 38 points and their strongest voyageurs cup run in 2022 but yeah no big improvement...he did have to get changed at some point but doing it while they are fifth with valour and hfx doing much worse is a risky call...lets see how it plays out

I doubt they were ever in any danger of running up against the staff salary cap, but their internal staff budget is obviously limited (or Dos Santos likely would have been given the boot by now). Big_M
really sounds like pasquel has no actual soccer experience...they wanna compete for the championship this year but theyll likely have the kid eustaquio heading the team for 2+ games?? why did you fire him now if you didnt have anyone even close to being appointed?? so now youre gonna have someone who pretty much has no clue as far as head coaching running practices and games...and then the classic words of playing beautiful football ball on the ground quickly and smartly....wow...guess theyre putting the money so they can do whatever they want York United president & GM Ricardo Pasquel explains coaching change, club’s footballing philosophy “I think [Nash] represented exactly what we wanted off the field, but on the field we just have a different perspective of seeing the game. I think the timing right now is correct because we have 20 or so more weeks to go in the CPL. I’m sure with the new head coach, we’re going to compete for the championship.” However, significant work has already been done toward appointing a new permanent head coach, with Pasquel revealing the club has spoken to multiple candidates, including some from the local area, as well as several based in the United States and Mexico. He hinted that Eustáquio will likely be in charge until after York’s June 1 match against Forge FC, after which he anticipates being able to announce the new manager. According to Pasquel, the incoming head coach will be chosen primarily for his footballing philosophy. “We’re looking for a team that plays with the ball on the ground, plays quickly and plays smart,” Pasquel said. “We want a smart team on the pitch, and that’s something that’s easy to say but it’s pretty hard to implement. With the search for the new head coach we want somebody whose teams previously have played a very good brand of football, attractive football that the crowd likes. It’s not going to be easy, it’s going to be a challenge, but with the current roster we have the potential to accomplish that.”
