Vancouver FC not looking great at all. It seems the minute they are missing even one or two starters, their wafer thin depth is immediately very apparent. Need 3 or 4 CPL guys with some experience to come in and fill out the backbone of this very young group.

They had some players today that were brutal. When they got the ball they would absolutely panic and have no idea what to do with it. They definitely have to get rid of some of the deadwood.

If they do that, they’ll be way better next year.

Didn't get to attend or watch this one live, but from the highlights looked like Valour were on the front foot for most of it. Also looked like a great crowd.

Guti and Sanchez dominated the midfield.  Ulloa and Pacifique looked dangerous all game.  Siaj and Novak were invisible.  No finishing from Valour.  Mzoughi did not look out of place but was not pressed defensively.  Pianelli was solid.  Campbell effective at both ends, drew the pen.  Ponce hurt early.

It was funny that one of the two Vancouver highlights in the Youtube highlights video was a shot wide near the end of the first half that resulted from two or three consecutive Mzoughi gaffes. Glad to hear that otherwise he did well.

^ It's different.  Definitely different.  Might take a few matches to flesh out.

So, can only use every 3rd row.  Don't know why but the two rows between are taped off.  I'm guessing something to do with crowd density and the smoke?  Don't know.

Was probably the best crowd of the season yesterday but not amongst The Trench.  Quite a few of the usual suspects not there, some stayed in 144, and others were in and out.  It was a hot one yesterday.  It's always going to be when you're behind the east goal and in the sheltered lower bowl.

That said, thought it went fairly well.

First thing everyone else in the stadium noticed was that the noise from there projects onto the south stand waaay better.  It's going to be impressive when they get the full crew down there.

Second thing is the seating isn't really that bad.  Pretty good actually if you're in the lower rows.  A big improvement over 144 to be sure

So yeah, so far so good.   Different but I can see it working.
