I see.

I locked the previous thread, and intended to start a new one.

It got hidden when I locked it.

It is visible now.

If people want to keep down that rabbit hole have at it.

I've had my fun but seriously now, these cryptic responses we've been seeing, while effective for deflecting posts, are kind of a turn off.  This place never stifled free speech and I hope this momentary lapse of (in)sanity doesn't seep into this forum permanently.

What is cryptic about that response.  I meant to lock the thread, I hid it as well.

I use the Activity stream, not the Forum view.  If you look at it in Forum view you can see it's hidden because it is red.   I didn't go and look until you pointed out it was not visible.

Is this why there is no longer a link to the forum on the front page unless we are logged in?

No, that is to force people to register.   It's a multi step process to build a better community, which the forum is part of.

Our organic reach on FB is gone.   You have to pay now to get anything out the  door and even then people don't seem to see it.

Reaching people has become very difficult.

People will need to be logged in and  post in the Introduction forum to even see the rest of it soon.

The forum is not a net positive.  We need to  move from being essentially built around the forum, to the forum being part of the site and community.

Hmmm.  If it wasn't for this forum I would still likely be basing my knowledge on the Canadian national team by searching the the latest EA version of FIFA to see who is a Canadian professional soccer player.  This forum is probably the best place to get information on Canadian soccer, which really is a poor reflection on the CSA's ability to get its message out and a great indication of what the V's provide to Canadian soccer fans.

The forum is not going away.   We have registered more people in the last 48 hours than the last 4 months.

The forum will be a featured reason to join the site.    I might bring back the tab, show the thread titles, but not allow access.  That way people can see there is some meat there, but they need to sign up to see it.   I generally hate this kind of things from websites. We have no pop ups, no ads ect... so I don't feel totally dirty doing it.    We are on a cloud based platform and pay for the traffic.  If we are going to pay for it, it might as well be registered traffic.

If you have been lurking for 5 years, too bad.   Time to step up, we are moving to the next level, it's time for the lurkers to as well.

I always thought the purpose of this group was to be an activist for Canadian football, even and especially when it meant ruffling establishment feathers. It is great that we are trying to foster a friendly working relationship with the CSA but I cannot think of anything that would be more valuable than the right of forum members to post their uncensored opinion on all things Canadian football.

Praise Allah!

It is. And not once have I said people should not be critical of the CSA.

This had nothing to do with being critical of the the CSA.  Nothing.

I'm not "having a go" Jamie so please don't take it that way. But you do seem to be saying that people should watch what they say on here in deference to some "greater cause"; whether that cause be our relationship with the CSA or something else. And this is not compatible with the principle of free expression.

This forum is the furthest thing from censorship imaginable.  Zero. All I was asking was for people trust me and lay low for a few weeks on one single thing because of a confluence of circumstances.   That's it.

You keep f'ing with the threads and I won't know whether I am at the once free speech loving Vs or the annoying Antifa like RPB

While I get calling Antifa anti-free speech, let's not act like they're the worst or most annoying/dangerous group in the anti-free speech movement

I'm having a difficult time thinking of anybody worse that isn't part of a government and entitled to carry arms.  If you disagree  with them, they are too afraid of you and will try and shut you down.  Ironic that they call themselves anti Fascists because they ARE the fascists, right down to the face covering and blackshirts.

Let's see just going by the west and including private groups

-Christian Right (if you think ANTIFA is worse than this bloc you're sorely mistaken. They've been hurting the arts and sciences for centuries and unlike ANTIFA are actually a very powerful and organised group. Make no mistake this is number 1, even today.)
-Other religious censor groups
-Anti-Porn Feminists
-Neo-Nazis
-RIAA and MPAA
-Google and YouTube
-Black Bloc (you put this in with ANTIFA but they're seperate and no matter who's in power they show up and cause shit at protests. It's a pure anarchist group)
-I Heart Radio aka Clear Channel
-Sinclair
-Groups that plan book burnings

There are others but you get the point here. On top of that, the groups that ANTIFA regularly clash with often feel protests themselves should be banned which itself is very anti-free speech. ANTIFA are brats and often violent but their not the worst when it comes to free speech.

The CSA is reading our Forum as is feeling threatened? Good for us.  Let us really cause some changes then.  Maybe if they were to act properly and transparently they wouldn't have reason to feel insecure and threatened.

I don't think it's the criticism solely but a mix of comments across various threads some shit gets said that might make organisations hazy about associating.

If they don't recognise the value of the hardcore fans - that purchase tickets (often with friends) and buy memorabilia - and think that a message board shouldn't have/doesn't regularly have differing and sometimes extreme views, then this old boy network/circus show is in worse shape than I thought. May just have to find one of those old Sack the CSA shirts and buy it off someone. If every Association would not want to link with the fan group because of differing views there would be no links at all!

I think that they also retain the right to say fuck the fanbase if the values expressed on political topics, by a number of members on the groups official website, are troubling.
