jpg75
Not sure if it has been mentioned in this thread (have only had time to speed read some of the pages) but I think an ex-TFC player from the 2007 development roster called David Guzman might be playing in the top division in Costa Rica these days for Saprissa: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player/_/id/97888/david-guzman?cc=4716 Think he is from Toronto and was regarded as a Canadian player at the time. ESPN really ****ed up that entry. I can assure you that is not the same David Guzman. The Tico Guzman is only 20 years old and is Costa Rican born and bred: http://www.saprissa.co.cr/perfilJugadores.php?id=10 The Canadian David Guzman is 25 years old (born in '85), attended the University of Louisville and was born to Peruvian parents. BringBackTheBlizzard
Another link for David Guzman of Saprissa with a 1985 DoB listed and Canadian listed as nationality:- http://www.soccerway.com/players/david-guzman/7460/ Edit: David Guzman's picture on the Saprissa website doesn't look like the player I met outside Shoeless Joe's one time so not surprised it is a case of mistaken identity by ESPN. alex36
I wouldn't call Aguiar an ambivalent Canadian. He didn't get along with Osieck and may have had some attitude issues but the issue was not that he didn't want to play for Canada. He strongly wanted to play for Canada but got frustrated at being constantly overlooked for weaker players. Yallop (who had an ambivalent attitude towards playing the best players over his friends) basically screwed Aguiar over. I don't think Aguiar did the right thing by withdrawing from the team after not getting called but on the other hand he saw first hand what readily became apparent during Yallop's tenure, that players were not selected based on merit. Aguiar isnt the first and wont be the last that it happens to. You can only push people so far before they snap. I agree in that he shouldn't have closed any doors but I can also understand the frustration of being overlooked and the difficulty in watching favourtism at work. tarnado1555362291
Surprised nobody has posted about this guy. From Victoria Highlanders reserves to Dundee FC. Says he signed a pro contract as an apprentice ?? Danny Paton-Cavanagh http://www.victoriahighlandersfc.com/news.php?newsid=208 Some praise from Dundee fans: "He's an excellent keeper with all the attributes required. Saw him play a few times for the youths, he's very good. Think he's actually out on loan at a junior team just now to get him competitive games every week and toughen him up a bit. Of all our current youth team he's the one I have highest hopes for ..." http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=194&fid=100&sty=2&act=1&mid=2119453296
tarnado1555362291
Another reason to cap youth players abroad before they get other opportunities Caolan Lavery was capped by Northern Ireland U21 in a 3-1 loss to Scotland U21 on November 17, 2010. He was a 75th minute substitution. EDIT: Just noticed this was already posted elsewhere

There was a Canadian Filip Prostran alongside Edson Edwards at Graceland in 07. Same guy I presume: http://www.gujackets.com/roster/5/7/166.php FK Mladost is a third tier club in Serbia, I believe. Juby
Prostran might be good, I didn't find much but I found a couple things: confirmation he was there last season http://srbijafudbal.net/mapatin/prostran.htm and I can't really translate this properly (I'll do a bit but I'm not fluent) but it appears to be a scouting report (can't vouch for how seriously it should be taken at all) from october in a forum: http://www.fkvojvodina.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=50748&sid=f84d82157ec37186b6548194bc0efba8 FILIP PROSTRAN Datum rodjenja: 04.06.1992 Mesto rodjenja: Oakville, Ontario Visina: 185 cm Trenutni (current) klub: FK Mladost Apatin Prethodni klubovi: Queen Elizabeth, Graceland Pozicija: Desno krilo (right wing) --- Filip dolazi iz Kanade gde je i zapoceo svoju karijeru. Video: *not a verbatim translation, please correct* -It says he's from canada were he successfully began his football career in high school and university until he jumped up to the Mladost Apatin youth team. -I'm having trouble with this but it says something about him being able to step up immiadiately? Something about foregoing university because of his talent? I believe it conclueds that he may correctly not be on the radar of the big clubs yet but has a lot of potential. -Fudbalski talenat poseduje, ali nedostaje mu rad sa kvalitetnijim I'm gonna say: has talent but lacks a technical shine??? strucnjacima koji bi taj njegov talenat znali `izbrusiti´. I think it says he's got alot of hustle, hard worker - I believe it finishes off saying he's worth the investment because he's only 18 and has alot of upside. One problem though, could this be the same guy who played for graceland university in 2007? he'd of only been 15. edit: btw FK Mladost Apatin is in the third tier, Vojvodina division (1 of 4 divisions, Vojvodina is the name of the autonomous province it's in, it's the northern division (the others are Beograd, East and West)

I think it says he's got alot of hustle, hard worker - I believe it finishes off saying he's worth the investment because he's only 18 and has alot of upside. Here is my verbatim translation: Date of birth: 04.06.1992 Place of birth: Oakville, Ontario Height: 185 cm Current Club: FK Mladost Apatin Previous Clubs: Queen Elizabeth, Graceland Position: Right Wing -- Filip comes from Canada where he began his career. He played successfully for his high school and university teams until strengthening the ranks of Mladost Apatin. He is a unique case because until now he has not had the opportunity to train seriously so he falls into the group of "unschooled" players. At this time, perhaps he would not strengthen a more competitive squad, but with a few years of more serious training, I'm sure that he'll be able to accomplish much. He has the footballing talent, but he needs work with quality professionals who would know to shape his talent. I am sure that the invested time in this young man would pay off for any club that would work with him because he is only 18 years old and has a lot of room for improvement. I'm not sure whether this can be the same player (or perhaps the birthdate is wrong) as it appears the Filip Prostran from Graceland graduated high school in 2004... Loud Mouth Soup
Preston needed that Hume transfer after the drunk Scot threw a childish hissy fit and recalled 2 of the 3 United loanees as payback for PNE sacking his son.
