I did a search and Ceres mentions in the Mother of All Canadians Abroad thread that even though he signed a 3-year deal, he didn't get a work permit. I took a look at the links Ceres posted, and, as usual, his research is impeccable - I may not always agree with his views on scandinavian soccer , but he is just about the most thorough and fair researcher I have ever come across on any forum. So it looks like Lyn want Nunez, but that Norwegian bureacracy has put a damper on things. They can apply for another work permit after November 15 (unless Brønby snap him up first)
Start fan in exile
As has been posted elsewhere, Tromsø and Patrice Bernier have both confirmed the midfielder is leaving "Gutan" and Norway at the end of this season. Bernier is quoted as saying he will not be playing in Norway, but other than that does not know what next season will bring. http://www.fxt.no/tippeligaen/tromso/article775783.ece Too bad, really. Bernier is not a real high-profile player, but he is rock-solid day in and day out. Tromsø will have a hard time replacing him.
Start fan in exile
Kevin DeSerpa played striker as Stord Sunnhordaland lost 4-1 away to Flekkerøy and were relegated to division 3. There is a huge difference between division 2 and division 3 in Norway, and several of the club's players have said they will not be following the team down. No word in the local media if Kevin will stay or go.

Guest Ed
Norway's top team is one of 28 teams entering Qualifying Round 2 in the Champions League; they would still have to survive Qualifying Round 3 (32 teams) to reach the group stage. Good luck to Lars next season! Guest Ed
Last question answered first. Rosenborg isn't shown because they qualified for nothing in Europe last season. Here's the final standings from the 2005 season, which then help you figure out the bit I posted yesterday. I guess Molde, despite their poor record over the 2005 season, won the League Cup to earn the later entry in the 2006/2007 UEFA cup competition: Norway 2005 Final Table: 1.Vålerenga IF 26 13 7 6 40-27 46 Champions 2.IK Start 26 13 6 7 47-35 45 3.FC Lyn Oslo 26 12 8 6 37-21 44 4.Lillestrøm SK 26 12 6 8 37-31 42 5.Viking FK 26 12 5 9 37-32 41 6.SK Brann 26 10 7 9 43-32 37 7.Rosenborg BK 26 10 4 12 50-42 34 8.Tromsø IL 26 8 10 8 31-30 34 9.Odd Grenland 26 9 6 11 28-51 33 10.Hamarkameratene 26 8 7 11 31-37 31 11.Fredrikstad FK 26 8 7 11 35-44 31 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 12.Molde FK 26 8 6 12 40-46 30 Relegation Playoff ------------------------------------------ 13.Aalesunds FK 26 6 9 11 30-42 27 Relegated 14.Bodø/Glimt 26 6 6 14 29-45 24 Relegated The piece I've extracted shows how the Norwegian clubs were placed in the European competitions this season (based on LAST season's performance). That snippet shows the European competition entries for Norway. The heading states that Norway is ranked in terms of UEFA competitions in 20th place overall. Then the next lines showing clubs are the clubs from Norway that won entry into the various UEFA competitions: CL=Vålerengen IF 11.921 (cl/QR2) Valerengen enters Qualifying Round 2 of Champions League. Just to finish for you Ed, Rosenborg was almost relegated last season and did not qualify for anything outside sitting on the pier in Bergen and whimpering. But I would imagine that their coefficient is still higher than any other Norway team. The decision on what round you go into as champs depends, however, on the country's coefficient; don't know if that means, just imagining, that if they show well in Europe this season that ranking might go up and Rosenborg could even leap a round. Grizzly
Norway was very poor in Europe this season probably in part due to their traditional power house big budget team, Rosenborg, not qualifying. All 5 Norwegian teams have been eliminated getting only 2 coefficient points and currently in 24th for this year with both Serbia and Austria who are behind them still having a team in the competition and potential to push them even lower. More important, Norway is currently ranked 18th in the 5 year coefficient used for determining places with 5 lower ranked countries still having teams in the competition. Serbia and Austria are also near them in the 5 year table so a good run by Austria Vienna or Partizan could move Norway further down. Denmark is further away but still has two teams in Euro competition. Norway entered this year's competition ranked 19th so are currently up a spot mostly due to Israel dropping dramatically. It seems like they will be in roughly the same situation as last year in regards to spots and the round their teams enter the various competitions. Start fan in exile
No kidding it was a very poor result by Norwegian teams in Euro cups this year! The biggest disaster of all was Brann getting knocked out by a 2nd tier Swedish team - a result due almost entirely to poor coaching and team selection - although my team Start were also soundly thrashed (9-2 aggregate) by Ajax in the 1st ordinary round of the UEFA Cup. Molde were the only team to perform respectably, barely losing a hard-fought series to Rangers in the UEFA 1st round despite their difficulties in the domestic league. Start fan in exile
Rosenborg return to the top of the heap Two rounds before the end of the Norwegian season, Rosenborg have all but clinched the title for the 14th time in the past 15 years. In a tense match in Bergen Sunday night, Rosenborg showed poise and efficiency, taking a 3-1 win over Brann. RBK are now 6 points up on Brann, with a 13-goal lead in goal differential. No one expects the Bergen team to make up that difference, and Rosenborg can surely celebrate the official title at home this Sunday when they host Viking. Lars Hirshfeld started the game for Rosenborg as he has done much of the season, and aside from Brann's goal (a pk by Martin Andresen) had very little to do. The other end of the table is much more interesting, and there is a theoretical possiblity that 7 teams can end up tied for last place with 29 points! Patrice Bernier and Stephen Ademolu started for Tromsø on Monday night as they visited Lillestrøm, who have faded badly down the stretch. Olivier Occéan started for the hosts, but was unable to influence the game, as Lillestrøm lost 2-1. With that result, Tromsø climbed from the basement and Lillstrøm fell into 4th place, and are now in danger of losing their medal, their UEFA cup place and their Royal League place as they can still be caught and passed by both Lyn and Start. Molde hosted HamKam, but Sandro Grande and his teammates were only able to hold out for a 1-1 draw, and are still in real danger of relegation. As expected, Ali Gerba did not feature in Odd Grenland's 2-1 loss to Fredrikstad. rednwhite
Another amazing match in Tromsø. Ademolu and Bernier both played 90 minutes as the Tromsø beat Start in 1-0 in conditions made for an memorable football game. Tromsø scoring the winning goal in the 85th minute and climbed to 9th position (after being dead last since round 1). Depending on final round results Tromsø may end up on the 12th spot and forced to play a play-off to stay up. Ademolu didn't seem to like the condition, and Bambi on the ice seem to be a good description of him today Pictures: http://www.nordlys.no/nyheter/bildeserier/article2378732.ece Video: http://www.fxt.no/tippeligaen/article786385.ece
