ray
The 2023 Francophone Games will be held July 28th to August 6th in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the first edition of the event in 6 years. Canada is once again participating in the soccer tournament (U20 Men). They will be in Group A with matches against the host DRC (July 27), Madagascar (July 29) and Congo (July 31). https://www.jeux.francophonie.org/sites/default/files/public/wysiwyg/programme_football_0.pdf It seems the Canadian delegation has not been named as yet. With the CPL and League 1 Canada up and running, will Canada have trouble fielding a competitive side ? narduch, JamboAl, johnyb and 2 others 4

InglewoodJack
Shame if we don’t play. This would be cool even to send a CF Montreal academy team. I think these things are important to be a part of. toontownman, NVsoccer, johnyb and 1 other

I think it’s very important for Quebec to stay integrated within the French world, and of course, if this gives our athletes an extra opportunity to play in new countries against new opponents, that’s a big added bonus. I participated in the 2009 edition in Beirut. It was used as a u20 preparation tournament. Only national teams back then but maybe things have changed. Safety was a big concern for that tournament as well. We were assured “police escorts” to and from training by Hezbollah militia. Certainly an experience I’ll never forget!
