Might have something in his loan about not playing in cup matches.

Not in 18 today as they are up against the West Ham u21s (sort of) in the last 32 of EFL Trophy.

Temporarily back with Palace to nurse an ankle injury, but per CP and Colchester, it’s not serious.

Good to know.

I just remembered him not playing in any of their Trophy games.  Looking it up he was on the bench for one and played in both of the FA and League Cup games.

Update:

Probably good he wasn't there, our boys gave Colchester a good shellacking.  4-0.

"Crystal Palace’s fast-rising goalkeeper, Owen Goodman paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau at the Glass House earlier today, May 31."

If he wants to play for Nigeria then that is definitely a loss for us

After spending this past season in League 2 England at Colchester United, it looks like a return to League 2 is in the works, this time with AFC Wimbledon.

Goodman may face tough competition for that #1 spot from Lewis Ward; AFC Wimbledon also want to sign him.

Was hoping for league one, not sure why they’d send him back to compete for that spot.

Because he didn't thrive last year.

Was on the bench for the last 5 games when Colchester was trying to avoid relegation

I casually follow Wimbledon for the story- not a bad spot. They’ve been underwhelming these past few years, but you figure they’ll end up challenging for promotion one of these days.

Looked at their schedule- friendly against Brentford this weekend, then season starts august 10th. He’ll get thrown in the fire, especially if they brought him in as a starter, which I assume they did. Their first game is against Colchester where Goodman played last season.

They just lost their starter, Nick Tzanev who played about 200 games for my career mode AFC Wimbledon game, won himself a few champions league titles too. Big shoes to fill.

Wimbledon signed Ward:

So as a 19/20 year old playing 40 games in total his first season in senior football behind the worst defence in the EFL is not thriving, yes Owen made some errors but ultimately it was big saves at big moments that kept Colu up.

Wimbledon are a a club whose GK Coach Ashley Bayes  is second to none in developing keepers, at this stage of his development and in GK terms he’s still a baby learning his trade, it’s about game time and development, and from what I’ve seen already from Ashley Bayes in his enthusiasm and commitment Owen will be returning to Palace a much better keeper at the end of the season.

Just for reference, i was responding to this

"Was hoping for league one, not sure why they’d send him back to compete for that spot. "

He is so young, lots of time to figure it out. But this is his level right now. Gotta prove he belongs and then move his way up

His rise just isn't going to be as fast as we hoped
