nolando
Hard to imagine Ayre wanting to play residency level, but who knows? If they convince him he could be a part of their long-term plans, then maybe?

youllneverwalkalone
^I guess it's not so bad if he can live at home and play PDL. Trafford and Bellisimo have been in a similar boat, getting more action with the first team last year -and they are two year older. I'm not sure the Caps are really any worse talent wise than a Scotland Div 1 club, so he should be playing at a comparable level to what he might find in Europe based on some reserves action with Hibs. If they convince him he could be a part of their long-term plans, then maybe? The reporter has it wrong. Ayre is too old for the residency program. Kids graduate from that program at 20. The residency program does not equal the PDL team. It is a combination of VMSL, PDL, Senior Team, tours, European tryouts, etc. If Ayre is signed, it would be for the PDL squad. One thing past teams have always lacked is players playing professionally, we always had european youth players. Now we have Haber, Gala, Attakora-Gyan, Gage, Suprenant, Nakajima-Farran, Edwini-Bonsu, Bonifacio all playing decent minutes probably with mens first teams. Then others such as Gaudet and Melo who have played time and may see some more. Saiko plays in the reserves of middlesbrough so that is a good level at least. Not to mention that there is a chance that a number of these kids will be playing together in Vancouver, and the chemistry will carry over.
