Thanks.  It's pretty crazy that I won the Voyageurs Cup but I'm likely not to get promoted.

It can happen. You've a trio of matches remaining and this extra victory-point can go a long way to overturn York or North York for the 2nd DRFL spot in our division. I'm assuming that I'm going to win the Espanola match and at least one more, which should lock me in place, but it may even be possible to play spoiler to my chances!

I really hope you get into DRFL-1. The two meetings that we've had both ended in draws, so I would love to see what a few more matches would come out like. Either way, I'm confident we'll meet again in post-season Cup.

We'll pretend this really happened and give you the one-game playoff against TFC.

Will you be upgrading TFC's stats to reflect their season & V-Cup wins? I have a feeling that wouldn't bode too well for Beaverton. lol

Are there matches that need to be made up due to my progression in the Vogageurs cup? I noticed I have only one match left on the schedule but that will only bring me to 11 matches in total.

There are 3 make-up matches happening on July 11th:

  • Hobema Hosers vs AFC Medicine Hat
  • Beaverton FC  vs D.R. Legion FC
  • Racing Club de Espanola vs Porcupine Gold Rush FC

So I've regenerated @grande's sport club stats. At some point 2 V-Cup matches were input as league matches, and 1 match had a typo. It's also had the tiebreaker pattern reset to match the official tiebreaker pattern in the wiki (points-total wins-goal dif-GF-H2H-lots). Having gone through it with a fine-tooth comb, it all looks up to date & proper. No one is "in" yet. Maybe next match.

Edit: Then again, tie-breaker seems to still be off. I'll read into it and fix it up after the mid-week matches.

Porcupine would have to beat both North York and York, Durham would have to beat both Beaverton and York, and you'd have to beat both Beaverton and Espanola while clawing back a -17 GD against North York.

Sounds simple enough.B)

Matchday Thirteen - July 4, 2017

Inter Regina @ Nanaimo Barre FC (Highlights - 1st Half - 2nd Half)

Ontario West

SC Chatham Corn Stars @ Windsor Rum Runners (Highlights - 1st Half - 2nd Half)

North York FC @ Porcupine Gold Rush FC (Highlights - 1st Half - 2nd Half)

Canada East

Hans Island @ EXPAT FC (Highlights - 1st Half - 2nd Half)
AS Sherbrooke Estrie @ Winnipeg Wanderers (Highlights - 1st Half - 2nd Half)

Lucky loser is Porcupine Gold Rush.  No Hans Island lead is ever safe.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Don't forget the running game!  Even if your team passes a lot, much of your game will be running with the ball.  Having low dribbling and shielding skill means that your runs will cover less distance and are less likely to be successful.

I love that this is going to take right until the very last match to decide who is going to move forward in Ontario East. North York is ahead, but they've already finished their season. If both Beaverton & Porcupine Gold win their final 2 matches, or have 1 win & 1 draw, that would be enough to drop North York to DRFL2. Insane.

Looks pretty tight in Canada West as well. I love the parity.

Congratulations to those that have now secured their spot in DRFL1!

It's right down to the last match of Ontario East. I love it. I'm pretty confident I'll drop Espanola faster than Kitchener dropped their original name during the world war. I'm hoping I'll see Beaverton succeed in their final match as well. Anything can happen though and either team would be great competition.

Hanging by a thread but got the win against Red Start Red Deer preventing them from promoting and keeping my hopes alive.

Hey AFC Medicine Hat, how much for you to "throw" the last game? You are eliminated anyway so some spare money would be nice wouldn't it? Just saying  :)

Blargh!! Eliminated on goal difference (at least until the last round is done. Then maybe eliminated on goal diff and points :) ).

I was shocked when Saskatoon won to eliminate you.  Every other time I re-ran that game, Medicine Hat beat them.

Oh well. We seem to be great defensively but struggle to generate shots on net (although our conversion rate seems to be high).

If anyone wants to completely redo their skill point setup, just PM me with your changes.

Schedules to follow.

First Division

Teams who have been promoted to First Division can add an additional six skill points.

First Division teams will play an additional 14 games (two games home-and-away against each other First Division team) for a total of 26 games.  All statistics are cumulative between the spring and fall parts of the season.

The first-place team will be crowned as league champion and will receive the Montagliani Trophy.  Teams ranked 1-4 will earn an automatic entry to the Paul Beirne Cup.  Teams ranked 5-8 will enter the promotion playoff; winning teams from this will earn entry to the Paul Beirne Cup.

Matches take place every Saturday, starting July 15 and ending October 7.  There will be one midweek match: August 30.

Second Division

I decided to keep all 28 teams from the spring part of the season, resulting in two 10-team second divisions.

Second Division teams will play an additional 18 games (two games home-and-away against each other team in their division) for a total of 30 games.  All statistics are cumulative between the spring and fall parts of the season.

Teams ranked 1-2 will enter the promotion playoff; winning teams from this will earn entry to the Paul Beirne Cup.

Matches take place every Saturday, starting July 15 and ending October 7.  There will be five midweek matches: August 2, August 16, August 30, September 13, and September 27.
