Ivan
Hmmm. Debut in Toronto August 10th?
RJB
The huge part is that it seems they'll be paying a large transfer fee.
red card
Plus, it's huge that MLS is breaking their own rules and/or working off unpublished rules. Not sure if it is a plus for Dempsey other than he is making big bucks and rectifying the mistake of spurring Fulham.
Lord Bob
Plus, it's huge that MLS is breaking their own rules and/or working off unpublished rules. That's not news, though.
Ruud
Rules? haha - the MLS is like a microcosm of FIFA, full of secret deals and hidden backroom side agreements. Someone out there really wants Seattle to succeed, that 's for certain. Not sure where that leaves TFC and the others. can anyone really explain how the MLS does one of these "transfers"? I think it must be fascinating to see how it happens from the inside.
tmcmurph
But it is news when it is done for someone other than LA or NY.
Ivan
I actually don't mind the rules being bent for a team that averages 40,000 per game and is a flagship franchise for the league. They contribute a lot to MLS coffers and they should be rewarded for it.
yomurphy1
Supposedly he was interested in heading to Toronto... go figure. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/news/20130805/clint-dempsey-seattle-sounders-mls/?sct=sc_t11_a2
Ivan
^ Nice to hear he would come to Toronto after weeks of hearing that players didn't want to come to the Reds.
Cheeta
$9M USD transfer fee? Seems about right. To my mind anyway. The man is a good fit for any MLS team. As much as I hate to say it I quite like him. Essentially an honest footballer. Never mind the Trailer Park boy done good business and all that. What's not to like? He'll be good for the Sounders. No doubt about it.
