red card
Beckie is back. Scott gets a spot even though she hasn't even made the bench yet for KCC this year after not playing last year. From the Gold Cup squad, they replace Alidou and Prince. BSG, Carle & Larisey get more looks while Alidou gets no look. Alidou has 9 goals in the UWCL this season while Huitema has scored 9 goals in her NWSL career. Riviere, Collins, Prince out with injuries. rkomar
Scott is a leader on the team. You need some grizzled vets to help smooth out the ups and downs that can confound the youngsters when left to their own devices. The Ref

red card
Scott makes her first appearance. Canadian Soccer Daily's Kourabi has a straight forward look at an issue facing the CANWNT - the Alidou situation. Given it is the hot topic on social media, it would have been fail to continue with the standard fluffy articles rather than address this issue. Priestman hasn't provided satisfactory answers as Alidou can’t seem to crack the rotation either as a forward or as a midfielder. Kourabi says a name like Deanne Rose who is scoreless in the WSL this season raises questions. If current form is part of the agenda in question, Alidou takes the nod here. Or as the best-advanced midfielder/goal-scoring forward the program has ever seen, Alidou’s exceptional efficiency and adaptability in both positions makes her a prime candidate to fill part of the void left by Sinclair. Scott's return has been bad timing for Alidou. Grosso has been up and down at Juve this season but as with D. Rose, Priestman has been with Grosso since the youth stages. It took Lacasse two years of goals and UWCL performances for Benfica to earn a Canada call-up in early April 2021. Alidou finds herself in a similar position. https://canadiansoccerdaily.com/2024/03/29/kourabi-marie-yasmine-alidou-falling-out-of-favour-is-out-of-her-control/ Edited March 30 by red card Unnamed Trialist, Goal_Kick, Ivan and 3 others 5

Excluded are Adriana, Zaneratto and Debinha (likely injured). Too early to tell if new Brazil manager is getting a look at squad pool or likes tactically to mix and match players a la Emma Hayes. Japan won't have Endo. US brings back Macario and Swanson after long injury recoveries. For the first time, they bring dual national, 16 year old, Champions League Ajax starter Yohannes and also PSG's Gaetino. But over shadowing everything in the US camp over the past week has been the controversy around Korbin Albert's anti-LGBQT social media activity. Her TikTok posts and reposts were resurfaced including a sermon given in a Christian worship space talking about how being gay and “feeling transgender” is wrong and her family taking turns stating that “their pronouns are U.S.A". She liked an IG post: “God taking time off performing miracles to make sure Megan Rapinoe sprains her ankle in her final ever game.” Albert wears Rapinoe's 15 number. Rapinoe responded by posting "Are you making any type of space safer, more inclusive, more whole, any semblance of better, bringing the best out of anyone?” Albert has since posted an apology. 40k tickets have been sold for Saturday. But won't be surprised if most leave before Canada match. Canuckia
