JamboAl
So the Whitecaps get Seattle in their group with Olimpia (Honduras). Discuss...
Ivan
Tough draw. However, the Canadian rep will always have a tough draw seeing we automatically get a US or Mexican team in our group. Olimpia won't be a pushover either.
Grizzly
Yes a tough draw, the hardest group while LA gets the easiest with two minnow teams. No weak team in Vancouver's group and while Olimpia might be slightly weaker than the MLS teams talent wise their fans are very intense even by Central American standards and it is a tough away game. On the plus side, having 3 good teams removes the skewed results that can happen with a minnow team and thus the better team usually wins since all the matches are fair contests. The other groups all have at least one weak team. coppercanuck
Vancouver (Canada's team) should not be placed in the worst pot. This is ridiculous. Canada has done well in this competition and is still treated like a minnow.
youllneverwalkalone
Couldn't be happier. Won't be heading to Honduras anytime soon. Having a derby a couple hours down the road will be amazing, and good for the club from a travel/fatigue perspective.

The fact that Mexican and American teams are kept away from each other at the group stage is the real joke that creates this scenario.
Grizzly
Agree. The fact that Mexican and American teams are kept away from each other at the group stage is the real joke that creates this scenario. The type of CONCACAF corruption and unfairness that stemmed from the US running the show with Blazer in charge (and Warner as a puppet). That is why as much as I have called for Blatter to go over the years and complained about FIFA corruption I am not really happy with the FBI and the US government being the ones that are going to clean things up. We may get rid of Blatter and end up with a FIFA run similar to how CONCACAF is run with the US and western Europe in charge. As bad as Blatter is at least he spreads control and the benefits of FIFA corruption around the world instead of letting it be controlled by the usual suspects. Keegan
Agree. The fact that Mexican and American teams are kept away from each other at the group stage is the real joke that creates this scenario. Based off of results in this tournament the USA should only have 3 spots and we should be in the top pot as well. It's dumb that it usually works out to 5 MLS teams and only 4 FMF and 2 Costa Rican teams when the latter two leagues have been far more competitive. shamrock
I don't think it has that much to do with corruption. Canada severely hindered by the fact they don't have their own league (seeing how the Central American countries get 2 spots). Just keep getting results and CSA should keep pushing for a top spot and a second team (top MLS team?) Or MLS should allow Canadian qualification via the league.
