Academy Class of 2013 to NCAA

Recommended Posts

I'm sure I'm missing several, but this is what I know/found so far for the Caps and TFC:

Brody Huitema - Duke

Quinton Duncan - Tulsa

Sean Melvin - UNC Wilmington

Sergio Camargo - Coastal Carolina

Class of 2012 just getting started:

Wesley Cain - Wright St. (transferred from JC)

Omari Morris - Wright St. (red shirt, transferred from Akron)

Notables from Sigma and elsewhere:

Chris Nanco - Syracuse

Alex Halis - Syracuse

Kai Morton - Coastal Carolina

No idea where they are from:

Julian Santia - Campbell

Daniel Jodah - Marshall

Matthew Ferguson - Niagara

Michael Wagenknecht - Penn St.

Mark Wadid - Penn St.

Rongen in an interview a few weeks ago said Jordan Hamilton was headed to a big US school. Can't remember but it was Duke, UCONN or Maryland - in that class anyway. He mentioned another player as well, but he used a nickname or something - I couldn't make out what he said.

Wow, Hamilton going the NCAA route is surprising but if these kids decide to just play one year or whatever I don't see any harm and only good in fact as they stick with the academies and in the system during the College off season. Especially if you can go to a school like Maryland for footy, that would be solid competition. If Hamilton is going to Duke that is going to be a very interesting team with two of the potential strikers for our 2015 U20 team in Huitema and Hamilton.

It seems one can only get to NCAA div 1 if they play in Ontario or B.C.

If I was an FC Edmonton young player, I'd try to leverage that into some credibility for a scholarship.

Likewise there are some goods in Winnipeg these days that seem to hit the wall.

Oh yes, you can always count on a few Quebecers to end up on Ivy league soccer teams (usually Harvard) somehow every year...
