Yes, it's the Toronto FC Voyageurs Cup sponsored by BMO. Any other questions?

I thought it was the Hyundai Toronto FC Canada Cup Presented by Yahoo Canada?

I heard that the CSA has been deadlocked for months on this vital issue. Since two weeks are not enough time to make a conference call and hold a vote over the phone, they and their wives are just going to have to fly down to Trinidad & Tobago for a week of serious drin . . discussion.

I believe they are torn between the following choices:

1) The Kevan Pipe Memorial Trophy ("What? He's not dead?")

2) The Nykamp "We'll Name a Trophy After You - If You Give The Money Back" Trophy.

3) The Craig Forest Played for West Ham Cup

4) The Kerfoot Purchased This Trophy For The Whitecaps Only Trophy

5) The We Invented This So That MLSE Can Win Something Cup

I'm not sure what name they will go with, but you should know that the tournament will also present individual honours in the form of "The Owen Hargreaves Honourable Sportsman" award, and the "Benito's Best Ref" award.

First off, calling it the Nutrilite Canadian Champions League is stupid. These teams are the Champions of what exactly? Plus, a Champions League tournament to qualify for another Champions League tournament. How does that make any sense? Are we in the twilight zone?

Wow. What a crap name for a tournament. Like masster says, the teams in question aren't neccesarily champions of their respective league, nor are they competing for a national league championship. To top it off, the winner goes to the CONCACAF Champions League.

And while I don't mind corporate sponsorship attached to these things, isn't Nutrilite a pretty crappy company to be associated with? They're owned by AMWAY!

This is from the Impact's website

"Along with a chance to represent Canada in the 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League and hopefully a chance to represent the confederation in the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup, the first-place team will be awarded the Voyageurs Cup trophy. The Voyageurs Cup trophy, which has been awarded to the top professional Canadian team since 2002, has been donated to the Canadian Soccer Association for the new Nutrilite Canadian Champions League."
