Saviola7
Well I had the idea that if we decided on a couple of songs, then I could wrap it up in a .pdf for everyone to download. I'm off to Iceland for the week, but keep the songs coming I'll open a thread for voting next sunday.

Soju
I think these songs should be Canadian boys I hate just copying the standard Euro fare such as modifying Go West 100 different ways. Just my two cents.

john tv
I think we should copy these Euro songs and believe me I won't give you the Dutch ones. One song goes all the way back to 1650.It is magic and so meaningful to the Dutch. They also make a lot of reference to Orange yet there is no Orange in our flag. So I suppose to get it started maybe we should sing those well known English ones till we know we can sing our own. That English stuff is only for training purposes.Just remember that it has to be very powerful and very Canadian.
Soju
We already know the English songs john, and I'm sure many of us know other country's songs as well. Screw copying we'll just get laughed at and I'll join in. Time to form our own soccer identity and not throw fuel on the fire of those people saying we have no culture as a nation and Hargreavesing it off elsewhere. Niagara Hammer
New songs. No steeling songs from other clubs. Lets try different ones. Eventually one will stick and that will be the anthem for our team. It should be Canadian, not a “must be” but a “should”. WHUFC ‘s song is Forever blowing bubbles. It was written by a Russian born American. We could use the tune of a popular song and put our words to it. However, that would mean passing out song sheets. This would be logistically difficult to 20K people. It has to be reasonable well know. This will allow other fans in the stadium to recognize, and they might sing along. I will be sitting in section 223 and if I recognize the song I will sing along with the south end. Some one here suggested that we start with the chorus of a few songs to ‘test the waters’. Juby
isn't that a the mary jane girls song? if it is there's a funny story behind it, back when rick james was at his peak producing powers (and he was pretty good, I mean he gave EDDIE MURPHY a hit song) he got a bunch of girls together, promised them a hit, nailed em all, gave em a hit and then hit the road, they were pretty much useless without him. maccaliam
Dunno if it;s a bit late... or crap even.. but i heard that deep voiced "Oooo - eeee- ooohh , O-oooooooo - o" from wizard of Oz the other day (think it was those weird winged creatures singing it - not sure as i was in another room) but a variation of it could be "De-rosa-rio, O-oooooooo-o" is as easy a song as they come. Another thought in sticking with teh Wizard of Oz theme is, "There's no player like Hume, There's no player like Hume, There's no player like Hume". (changed from "theres no place like home"). Made me laugh actually bc it's so bad, it's kinda funny.
john tv
Two guys from Leiden and Holland that is. Just so amazing and even unreal. Hey guys on the other side of a canal in Leiden is Zouterwoude, and yes that's were all the Heineken beer comes from. Jonathan de Guzazman's birthday the same as me, the father of Canadian soccer died on Sept.13 and now leiden. Stop it .Yes I am only smiling and saying no I don't believe and this is srictly acoincidence, right. Leiden is one amazing historical University city and even Bobby Kennedey studied there. It also holds the record of having the coldest place in the world and than there is Saviola.Hot on one of the most important and possibly historical events happenenings in Canadian soccer history. It is so amazing since being a soccer historian I have learned that Canadians are also totally amazing. This goes back to 1888 and without going into the greatest detail I realized reading that history and accomplishments I really could relate, sort of like that Dutch history. Canadians are so different from the Americans and also very industrious and extremely proud of who we are.I all learned that and being that involved I could not stop being surprised upon amazed etc. They called themselves world champions in soccer and they made the big difference in WW1 as well as WW2. Even the Canadians won the military soccer championship in ww1. I saw these guys liberate Holland as well and I saw these guys really selling hockey at it's best. Anyway Saviola I am glad that even that far away you still have that Canadian spirit. It will show in the stands and I have known for years that this thing is so big. I remember speaking to Paul Birne from TFC and he said that I knew what was going to happen and yes I knew all along and what I am seeing in the stands is in fact just about unreal, like a big fantasy come through..I read Canadian history and once that media stopped being assholes I will happen and it did. Nothing is going to stop that amazing Canadian thing and even I from Holland can't believe it and Canadians having the potential of outdoing anybody and guys I know that is the way we are.Hey ask those Canadians who were in Moscou in that famous hockey series. So once Savibaby has those songs organized and we all go along with that, all these Canadians from the past will have one big smile on their face wherever they are. History in the making and our guys need us so bad and I know because they are so Canadian. Hey Saviola tell me how much Canadians are liked in Holland and tell us why. Stand up for Canada, sounds great to me and so appropiate.

Cooks
Hate to put in another choice, now that the voting has started, but... A recent trip to Montreal and the site of Expo 67 brought another song into my head that would work well and is known by a tonne of people. The "CA-NA-DA" tune that was written by Bobby Gimby (the "Pied Piper of Canada"). The song is sung as a continuous round. Lyrics (altered to suit our uses): CA-NA-DA We love thee CA-NA-DA Strong and Free North, south, east, west There'll be happy times Church bells will ring, ring, ring. With the Voyageurs all here to cheer our boys to victory, Everybody sing together! CA-NA-DA... Take away the schmaltzy kids voices and you've got a great chant. You could put in, or leave out, the in-between lyrics that are in the original (changed, of course, to things like "Sack the board, those crooked bureaucrats" etc.). Personally, I'd leave it simple. If you have no idea what tune I'm talking about (then you are just a puppy), check out
Soju
I've never heard that song before I guess I'm too young. Creepy hearing those kids singing it, reminds me of munchkins in Oz. Could make a great stadium song though. I would suggest taking the church out of church bells, then it's got my vote.
