is there possible near future?

Near future?  No.  However...

The year is 2349.  Climate change has turned most of the planet into hostile desert.  Only along the now tropical shores of Canada's arctic archipelago do we find space for the few remaining large cities in the northern hemisphere.  The Iqaluit Igloos hope to three-peat as CPL champions and defend their FIFA Club World Cup title against the Prydz Penguins of the Antarctic Soccer League.  But will the Cambridge Bay Caribou or the Devon Island Devils snatch the North Star Shield this year instead?  Stay tuned...

Fique atento...

This has to be the weirdest first six posts of a new thread yet.  Post #2 mocks the opening post, then thread author quotes poster #2 but (Google?) translates it into Portuguese -- say what?!?

I cooked at the Westmark Hotel in Whitehorse for a summer and played in the summer league.  It was awesome, except for the gopher holes, which were massive.  Games were at 7pm and 9pm and there were no lights on the field because none were needed.  The teams had names like Coke and Pepsi.  This is all true.

That's it.  No other point to the story besides some Northern content.  Just to keep things rolling in a random way.

Carry on.
