In Germany:

Friend was suspended, but Josh Simpson and Patrice Bernier both started in a 1 - 1 draw for Kaiserslautern at M'gladbach.

Simpson earned himself a week off by getting sent off in the 70th minute, leaving his team at 9 men trailing 1-0. Someone scored in the 90th for Kaiserslautern to earn the draw.

Kicker gives the following formation:

Sippel - S. Müller, Beda, Schönheim, Weigelt - Bernier - Demai, Mandjeck, Bellinghausen - Simpson, Iacob

Simpson at forward?

Also, Kevin McKenna played 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw for FC Koln at home to FC St. Pauli.

That was something he moaned about back in Oct/Nov timeframe, i.e., playing in an unfamiliar position, not his familiar left wing role. Got him in the doghouse with his coach Rekdal for a while. Now he's getting used to the position.

I don't know if he would still be considered to be in the left back conversation for Canada, but this move should take him out of it. On the other hand, it helps provide depth to our left midfield and forward options.

He never played left back at all for K'town. Always in an attacking role but in past seasons, more out on the wing.

Graham Ramalho played 45 minutes for FC Groningen reserves in a 3-0 away win against NAC. And more interestingly....Marcus Haber got to play 30 minutes also.

He might get more time in the reserves as he replaced his competition who left the pitch with a terrible injury. Good news for Haber..

Jules starts for Depor and they are now up 1-0 at Betis.

Julian actually made a nice little pass to start the build up that eventually resulted in Depor's goal.

It was a very pretty goal indeed.

julian almost scored a beautiful goal. Depor is playing him in a much more advanced role today. Not stuck as holding mid today, that's for sure.

Agreed I only watched about 15 minutes, but from what I saw he looked really good in the more advanced role.

Feyenoord was horrible today, losing 3-0 to Ajax. It looked like Ajax had 65-70% of the possession. It was VERY one sided.

Jono did not see much of the ball out wide on the left. When he did get the ball to his feet, he was consistently and relatively easily disposessed. He did not seem to show much 1v1 creativity and got almost no support from his forwards and midfield mates. Definitely not one of his better matches.

feyenoord has Major defensive deficiencies. Ajax looks strong but they do lack finish. This game could easily have been 4-0 or 5-0 if Ajax was bit more clinical with their finish.

Your right. It was a complete horror show and it has been like this for the last 5/6 weeks. Every first half was terrible and Feyenoord managed to turn most matches around in the second but today it was completely shocking and awful.

Only 17 year old Leroy Fer and the goalkeeper Timmer managed a 6 out of 10 mark. I cant believe the level of play today with so many experienced players. They really lack confidence and are a complete mess mentally.

In 5/6 weeks Feyenoord have now given away the league title and are 11 points behind PSV. Feyenoord can only focus to stay in the 2-5 position bracket in order to get into the Champions League play-offs qualifiers.

Elswhere in the Eredivisie Marcel de Jong is starting for Roda JC away against FC Groningen and after 10 minutes Roda are already 0-1 behind. None of the 4 canuck youngsters are on the Groningen bench.

EDIT :

Marcel plays the full 90 mins and nearly got Roda JC the winner with a long range free-kick but in the end it stayed 1-1. Extraordinary game with a useless referee who got on everybody's nerve which lead to players sqauring up too eachother and argue close and after the final whistle.

David Hoillet makes his pro debut as a 77th minute sub for Paderborn 07 in a 2-1 loss away to Kickers Offenbach. Didn't know he was eligible to play before his 18th bday!

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/spieltag/spielpaarungsbericht/object/808025

Einwechslungen:

SC Paderborn 07

30. Pisot für Döring

63. Boskovic für Löbe

77. Hoillet für Lintjens

Mike Klukowski went the full 90 and picked up a YC in the 88th of a 1-1 draw at St-Truiden.

Roda come from behind to tie Groningen 1-1. Not sure if Marcel finished the match.

It appears Paul Stalteri is not dressed for Fulham today.
