the futsal team representing Canada at the club level will be leaving today. Their first game is on Monday or tuesday its listed on perufutsal.com. Some of the bars in the toronto area will be showing the game since it will be televised on satellite.

All players are from Toronto. I guess its not the same as watching DeGuzman on goltv or anyone else for that matter, but lets support our futsal team in the panamerican club championship.

Marcel de Jong scores in the first half to put Helmond Sport ahead 1-0 at home to Go Ahead Eagles. The Dutch second-tier match is currently at half-time.

Sorry to complete what you started, but was looking at the voetbal.nl site. They won with two more goals and Marcel was subbed out for apparent time wasting in m. 89. Helmond has got back into things after a bad month of November, now are 7th, 9 back from leaders VVV Venlo.

Today in the CCC:

- Simpson doesn't get off the bench as Palace get an injury time goal to draw with Millwall 1-1. Millwall are still bottom.

- no Pesch yet again, but Brennan plays the match as Derby defeat Norwich 2-0.

- De Vos plays the match. but no Peters as Ipswich and Wolves draw 1-1.

- Hume plays the whole match, but Leicester fall to Leeds 2-1. Leicester played with 10 men for the last 15 minutes after a sending off for foul & abusive language.

- Bircham is still out as QPR win away to Stoke 1-2.

All the teams with Canucks are in the bottom half of the table.

Didn't Hume score today on a penalty in the 69th minute? No one mentioned it.

I thought the same thing, but then I read the match report and it said that Gudjonsson scored it.

"Gudjonsson then had the audacity to try his luck from fully 35 yards, but he did not have to wait much longer to find the back of the net.

Hulse committed a clumsy foul on Gudjonsson and the Icelandic midfielder dusted himself down and stroked the ball home to put the Foxes on course for a point."

In less than an hour, Vancouver's Justin Thompson will be playing live in front of millions on BBC 1 for Worcester City (Nationwide North) as they take on Huddersfield Town (League One) in the FA Cup second round.

The game will be live on BBC Radio Leeds. Although they try to block overseas listeners from accessing the stream, some of you may be able to get it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/england/realmedia/live/localradio/leeds.ram

The game will be delayed on Fox Soccer Channel, but it doesn't look like Fox Sports World Canada will carry it, unfortunately.

Rocco Placentino scored both Gualdo goals (6' and 67') in their 2-1 defeat of Bellaria in Serie C2B today. Rocco and Gualdo are both on fire of late. No line-ups yet, so I'm not sure how long Rocco played. Video of the goals should be available later in the week.

Sansovino beat Montevarchi 2-1 in Serie C2B today. Not sure if Julian Uccello played, will update this later when the line ups are out.

Also of note from yesterday:

Mike Klukowski is still injured. He did not take part in Club Brugges 2-0 win over Germinal Beerschot yesterday.

Richard Hastings played the entire match as ICT defeated Motherwell 2-0 in the SPL yesterday.

Rhian Dodds was an unused sub in Kilmarnock's 1-0 defeat of Dunfermline in the SPL yesterday.

Playing live in front of millions on BBC 1, Vancouverite Justin Thompson's Worcester City (Nationwide North) lost 0-1 at home to Huddersfield Town (League One). Thompson had a good match - methodical, low-key, and effective. Despite Huddersfield having a man sent off, Worcester were unable to score - despite numerous good chances.

Had Worcester won, they would have played at Chelsea in the next round.

Chelmsford City 3-3 Hampton & Richmond Borough

And I quote from the Non-League Paper:

"Ten minutes from time the outstanding Elliott Godfrey should have sealed the points after rounding [Chelmsford goalkeeper Gavin] King, only for Russ Edwards to appear from nowhere and clear off the line."

The NLP rated Godfrey as man of the match. Still no word on whether Jon Henry-Hayden played.

---

Gravesend & Northfleet 1-0 Morecambe

Ross Smith picked up a yellow card, and was named man of the match by the Non-League Paper. Gravesend manager Liam Daish said, "The two Smiths at the heart of our defence did really well."

Fernandes in goal for Paok, who dropped a game in Athens 2-1 in the last minutes, after going ahead in the first half. The AEK goals both came on corners which were chipped to the far post, scoring in Daniel just after the Paok goal and in m. 90.

Paok continues in 5th but have fallen off the pace, now 11 behind Olympiakos.

Reda will be 30 during 2007 MLS season. I would expect that any MLS expansion team will want a balance of players (and MLSE, especially, will want to go primarily with veterans). I does not seem unreasonable that a 30 year old defender, somewhere in the national team mix, would be an desired signing and it certainly does not preclude the development of youth players, although my belief is that MLSE will do only the minimum required by MLS, and will certainly not be looking to develop the kind of club infrastructure the Whitecaps are pursuing.
