Justin Thompson is no longer listed on Virginia Beach's roster as given on their site:

http://www.marinerssoccer.com/roster.html

I don't know when he was dropped, but the last match he appeared in was on June 4.

This was already posted above and I checked it and went through the news to see if he was officially released and couldn't find anything. I left him on the list for the same reason as Mika Dronyk (see above) Justin used to be with Trollers FC (Vancouver Metro Soccer League) so I'll have to check around there sometime.

Asmir Begovic, our U-21 in line to be our starter for 2007, is now with Belgium's top division, with RAA Louviéroise, commonly referred to as "La Louvière".

<<Le canadien Azmir Begovic signera ce jeudi un contrat de deux ans avec option. Il complètera donc le trio de gardiens de la RAAL et portera la vareuse numéro un.>>

:Benjamin Duval le 17-08-2005 à 17:54:46

"Canadian Azmir Begovic this Thursday will sign a two year contract, with an option for longer. He will thus complete the trio of keepers at RAAL and will wear jersey number one."

http://www.raal.be/?

I'm surpised nobody has caught this week and a half old news before.

RAAL has a record of two losses and two draws so far this season, Begovic has not yet played. Their next match is against Klukowski's Bruge on September 10, wouldn't it be great if he could start in goal for that?

I learned about it from a rumour from the Calgary Soccer Community site, which said that he was on loan from Portsmouth because he was only 4th or 5th depth and needed more opportunity for competition, but what the basis of the loan or trade or whatever is, I don't know. The small RAAL item refers to it as a "transfer".

Transfermarkt has recorded that he is now with RAAL, but has very little details about him or the basis ot he arrangemnt:

tranfermarkt/begovic

Guest Jeffery S.

Fernando Aguiar is no longer with Penafiel of the Portuguese top division. He has signed for Gondomar Sport Club, a team in the 2nd tier, the 'Liga de Honra', after agreeing to end his contract with Penafiel at the end of August.

This team was relegated to third tier last season along with Desportivo Chaves, but both have been reinstated after two other teams did not meet the financial and economic requirements to stay in the division. This only occured last week, so they are making up for lost time by playing games they should have played a few weeks back on free dates.

Thus far they have played two matches, both home wins, with Fernando going the whole way each time. On Sunday they beat Barreirense 1-O, on Wednesday they played what was technically the season's first fixture, beating Portimonense by the same score.

Here's a link to an English page with partial club information:

In other news, we can confirm that Marco Bras continues with the same club this season in the Portugal third tier, Pamphilhosa. He played as a sub for the last minutes of the 2nd game of the season.

Just read the North Shore Outlook, it said 19 year old Max Baessato had just signed for a div 2 team in Holland after playing a season in Italy.

The paper does not give any team name, also I have been searching for him on the web but to no avail. He might also be going by Massimiliano Baessato

Kevin McKenna of Energie Cottbus (German 2. Bundesliga) has four goals in five games. He is the leading scorrer on Cottbus and has seen a ton of action(playing 450 min in five games). If the season ended now, Cottbus woud be promoted back to the Bundesliga after a couple seasons of being relegated.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I believe Adam Wallace may have left Roeselare.

See the link http://www.ksvr.be/index.htm?url=/a-kern/transfers05-06.htm

Tks for the update and link. I seem to recall him having a limited contract a while back. It says he is at the end of his contract and his present team is unknown. At least he wasn't a Uitgeleende spelers which translates as decrepit player. :)

Looks like it was Beloften FC Den Bosch. Does beloften mean reserves? Can our Dutch readers out there have a look and see if they can dig up some confirmation or additonal info with a link.

I did a search at the team site but couldn't find anything

Just to jog some memories but does anybody know what happened with Christian Seon at St Johnstone, trial around September 5?

Baessato plays for the Jonge FC Den Bosch (U-21 I think). Beloften league I think has a slightly different connotation but similar to Reserve League only typically more a U-21 league.

I noticed that Shaun Saiko is currently playing at the U16 Nationals for Edmonton Juventus. He might still be in the Middlesborough mix but he isn't there at the moment.

Looks like he got a hot trick today.

Info came from the CSA site. U16 Adidas Cup.

Tks, that answers some questions about kids who had overseas trials Christian Seon, Jaswinder Gill, Shaun Saiko who all play for Edmonton Juventus U16.

I find it kinda disturbing, though, when almost every team has a coach and a player with the same surname.

Tks for that

Ross Smith - Gravesend & Northfleet (Nationwide Conference National) (5)

Date submitted: 06/08/05

Canadian Ross Smith today signed a 1 year full-time contract with the Fleet.

The former Margate centre-half joins namesake James Smith, Paul McCarthy and Graham Porter in the heart of the Gravesend defence to give Manager Liam Daish plenty of options at the back.
