Previously in Liga BPI, she scored 29 goals for Sporting and Torreense in 72 games. Interesting. They have a Champions League game today, not sure if she'll play. They have to win away at Rosengard to get into quarter finals. So these aren't gratuitous signings, they'll have a home CL match vs. Barça next week and are leading the league but in a tight battle with Sporting and Braga. That appears to be the case as X fan accounts say she was a much needed signing. They say Benfica never fully addressed restocking the striker position over the summer. The club was looking for a more direct replacement for Lacasse in terms of style, play the 9 in a way that more fits the manager's tactics, add attacking depth to support players like Alidou and replace one of the attackers who is currently injured. red card
Another one off to Portugal. With Benfica's tie with Barcelona yesterday, Liga BPI has moved ahead of Serie A into fifth in terms of UEFA country coefficients. By analytics, Stordy was ranked #1 in her position amongst Tier 2 school players who registered for NWSL draft. red card
Proulx has gone from Boucherville to Syracuse to Portugal to Melbourne to the Bay area. She played all 14 matches for top of the table Melbourne City. The A-League says the transfer fee eclipses the record fee (reported to be US or A$75k) paid a few days ago for her former teammate Kaitlyn Torpey by SDW. Proulx will likely start off as #2 behind a NWSL veteran but if she meets expectations, she should eventually be the #1.
