Andrew W
FC Dallas. http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/index.jsp Shield's not bad, but I wonder how it'll work down there. Interesting to unveil it midseason.
SABuffalo786
Anything is better than the "Burn". Yuck. Although, really, it should've been SC Dallas, not FC.
Dante79
Yea I like the name FC Dallas! sounds more like a soccer team! never really liked the name "BURN"
Daniel
Wow, a soccer organization that cares about and listens to its fans. What a novelty for those of us north of the border! :S
Loud Mouth Soup
So we have FC Dallas, DC United...possibly Chivas USA (is there a name yet?). All we need now is relegation/promotion and we're set! /dealy serious about that, too.
Andrew W
The owner of the SLC franchise has floated using Real (as in Madrid) Salt Lake. Most people on Bigsoccer like Highlanders.
Daniel
Someone should tell him that Real = Royal in Spanish. This would be of the utmost ridiculousness. Too bad "Lakers" is taken...

DoyleG
Doesn't the term "Burn" apply to anyone who actually watches the games at the Cotton Bowl? As for SLC, I heard the name SLC Olympics being mentioned.
Blue and White Army
Thank Allah that old, ridiculous club logo has finally been retired! A horse shooting flames out of its nose? Talk about Mickey Mouse... Finally soccer is being marketed towards 18-45 males....

Too bad "Lakers" is taken... yea it would be a pretty stupid, insane and pathetic attempt at making the mls sound more european. however, the the switch to FC Dallas is agood move...The mls should do the thing they do in europe with the sponsor on the front of the jersey, that could help bring in kep revenue. Just as long as they dont plaster the jerseys with a buncha companies.
Guest Jeffery S.
Salt Lake Spiral Jetty sounds about right by me. Now under water. Anyone wonder if Salt Lake did the same kind of manouevers to get MLS over Seattle that they used to get the Olympics? Speaking of the name, I think that the IOC has it registered now, the only teams that can use it are those that had it long enough ago to be able to claim a precedent over the IOC patenting it. Just off the cuff that would be Lyon, Marseille, and Olympiakos, though I am sure the Greeks could use it when they want as it is their damn mountain. Surely the MLS could use it if a tiny CPSL squad pulled it off.
Andrew W
According to the club's website, far as I can tell, the names they are looking to decide between are: Salt Lake Highlanders, Alliance SL, Salt Lake Front, Utah United and Real Salt Lake. http://iloveutahsoccer.com/p_pollscript.asp Now the funny thing is, having visited the website before, they've changed the poll to include Front and United. Previously it had Glory as one of the choices. On Bigsoccer, the name Highlanders was the overwhelming favourite, but on this site, where you can vote as many times as you like, Front has mysteriously taken the lead. Michael Crampton
FC Dallas works for me but Real Salt Lake? That just sounds like a pathetic attempt at pandering. They should call themselves Salt Lake City City instead (joke). I do like the Dallas crest as well. Modern - reminiscent of the new Arsenal crest actually - but still identifiably soccer. Well done. Mike.

Jarrek
quote:a tiny CPSL squad pulled it off. The CPSL pulled it off because frankly the IOC couldn't give a rats ass about such a small organization. The CPSL is simply too small.
