Jeremy
Looks like a cool movie, but it might not be made available due to copyrights. Whole story here: http://theshinguardian.com/2011/03/21/about-the-making-of-rise-shine-the-jay-demerit-story/ Trailer:
CanadianSoccerFan
The producers of that stupid Goal movie should've just waited a few years and made a film about Demerit. At least then the story couldn't be accused of being ridiculous

Jeremy
You can now help fund this project by pledging an amount of money to the cause: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1370261090/rise-and-shine-the-jay-demerit-story 25$ gets you a DVD of the movie, if the goal is reached. Funds will be used to pay the rights for the World Cup and Premier League footage, and probably DVD and Blu-Ray production too.

Grizzly
Judging from the trailer, this is the type of cheesy, crappy, make a feel-good story promoting someone as a hero film that would probably make me puke a few minutes into it. Whether about soccer or not, it looks goddamn awful.

ted
I'm in for $25. His story looks interesting and something like this is good for the business of soccer in Canada.

masster
I saw a closed screening of the movie and I was not impressed. Even though he plays for the Whitecaps, I still had the reaction that Grizzly described above.

Whether about soccer or not, it looks goddamn awful. Yeah, this is one of 4 soccer movies playing here in New York (and presumably elsewhere) in the Soccer Film Festival next month. I got tickets to the other 3 ("Argentina Futbol Club", "Soka Afrika" and "Match 64"). I'll skip this one, thank you. *barf* Paying $13 for each of the other 3 movies and I could've got the full package for an additional $5 only. But.... ummm .... NO!
