nolando
(According to the 3rddegree.net) Good to have another Canadian playing MLS, especially after losing Gerba and Ribeiro and Harmse in about a week's time. Don't expect him to see too much of the field this season as Dallas appear to have a surplus of defensive-minded players, but still nice to have him make the cut after what was an awfully long audition. And he's young, only 21 years old: http://www.3rddegree.net/2010/03/25/news-tidbits-from-the-luncheon/ "Latest Roster moves: Yeisley and Edward both make roster. Kelley not signed. Hear he’s in austin." He's listed on the roster: http://web.mlsnet.com/players/roster.jsp?club=t104
Gian-Luca
Nice to have a Canadian I've never heard of come out of the blue to make the big leagues, so to speak. Has he ever played for us at any age level?
nolando
Don't think so...could be the next Nana or could be the next Felix Brillant. Name: Edson Edward Hometown: Ottawa, ON College: Graceland University Position: Defender/Forward Shirt #: 15 Prior to joining FC Dallas of the MLS Eddie Edward enjoyed an accolade-filled amateur and collegiate soccer career that has taken him to various spots in North America. After graduating the Fury's Youth program, Edward began his collegiate duties at the NAIA's Graceland University. In his four years at Graceland he never endured a losing season - helping the Jackets to an overall 58-16-8 record while scoring 15 goals and adding 13 assists. In 2006 Edward was part of Graceland's NAIA National Championship-winning squad, while in 2007 he helped the team become Region V and Conference Champions. Edward has also twice been named to the the NAIA's Heart of America Athletic All-Conference team (2007, 2008). The Ottawa native is no stranger to the PDL, having traversed the amateur soccer ranks over the past three years at the Ottawa Fury (2007, 2009) as well as with the Des Moines Menace (2008) and Kansas City Brass (2009). Edward has also featured for the Kansas City Wizards U19 squad where he led the team in goals helping them reach their first National finals appearace. Edward's ascention to the MLS professional ranks represents only the second-ever Fury player to achieve the feat after Tyler Hemming played for Toronto FC in 2007-2008. http://www.ottawafury.com/fullstory.php?id=1478

nolando
Looks like Edson is on the bubble: Edson Edward D---Seeing this guy make the opening-day roster in preseason 2010 was one heck of a great story, especially with him being from an NAIA school in Canada. He even got to make his MLS debut late last season. However, a knee injury sidelined him for all of 2011 and it would have been unlikely to see him make the roster anyway. Still, he’s a great kid with some solid skills who could get another shot in this league or maybe in the NASL. At least he is closer to recovery: "Edson Edward is back doing some light training and some heavier rehab on the side. maccaliam
I wonder if Montreal would be willing to take a punt on him in the expansion draft?
Razcle
here is a kid I have not heard a word about all of 2011. Hopefully he can hang on and continue to develop so we can get a look at him sometime in the future.
Jeremy
Where is he now? Wonder if he has what it takes to cut it at MLS level. Would like to see him play, to make a better idea for ourselves
