Free kick
Good initiative! It is interesting when you reflect back to the early part of the decade when Canada was invited to particpate at Copa America as a result of winning the Gold cup. At that time the the event was played in Colombia but as result of the safety and securities issues, It was cancelled. The players that Canada called up were all euro based and when they were released back to their clubs in Europe, the Copa ended up being reinstated. But it was too late for Canada so we had to cancel and, along with Arg, we didn't send team. Point of all this. We couldn't assemble a team on short notice because we didn't have any domestic based players ( who wouldn't embarrass us) to send. Whereas CRC and HON did and took our place. CRC and HON managed to assemble a team at the drop of a hat and both went on to do very well in that tourny. But when you look at the V-CUP teams and the number of possible Canadians that you could get, you realise that things are so much different today. if you were to make an ALL-Star team of Canadians from the V-CUP, you'd have a pretty respectable team. "F-Gbeke (Van), Effective all tournament" Problem with Gbeke is his finishing. Nothing has changed from the days that he has been playing for the Lynx. Johnnie Monster
I would also suggest that Toure's second goal v. Toronto should be considered for goal of the tourney.

Agreed. I think the only one that would challenge it would be Guevara's free kick.

redhat
My vote is for Dwayne de Rosario's bicycle kick first goal against Montreal in the final match. As for Gbeke, did he not miss a PK? Good player, albeit inconsistent. Too bad Sebrango did not perform like he did against Santos Laguna.

I think the only mark against DDR's bike kick is the fact it came about due to goalie incompetence. I think Touré's goal would be the best goal in the tournament. And it's unfortunate about Eddie, but his dad was diagnosed with cancer, and then died of it.
