From the article:

"Sutton saw this first-hand playing for his country in a friendly against Jamaica in Montreal in 2004, when Olympic Stadium sounded like it had been transported to Kingston."

Is that a new record for most mistakes made in one sentence by a journalist writing about Canadian soccer?

Sometimes you wonder if people just pull facts about match dates and locations out of their you know what. It takes two seconds to look up the game and realize it was in 2006 and they played at CCR.

And the third mistake in the sentence being that there were barely any Jamaicans there.

It's going to take some doing for anyone to top that as they'd need to provide four mistakes (or more) in a single sentence. It would have to be something like "Canadian Captain and keeper Tomasz Radzinski led the Albanian second division in penalty kick saves last season with 12, all of which were goals".

I actually laughed out loud - thanks a lot.

Factual inaccuracies aside, that article all but confirms that the Jamaica game is in Toronto (they couldn't possibly mess that fact up, right?)

Well that's the thing - it's difficult to know whether to trust the other facts in the article when they get so many others wrong.

I'm still waiting for the CSA to make things official on that front.
