strobe_z
Anyone want to pipe up on how to do the fantasy rosters? I never play any of the management games, so I'm not sure who the players in the player pools are. Unless there's an easy way to import them... random names might be the only way to go. Help? Michael Crampton
Red Deer Town has to be in... "otherwise, what's the point?" Can you make all the fans chant "Stand up if you hate London City" even when they're not playing? Personally I'd drop the Lynx - like they deserve to be there - and replace them in the Prem with the Blizzard while adding North York and Scarborough clubs in CSL2. Another possible Southern Ontario team would be KW Tri-Cities SC (or Kitchener Spirit if you want to go classic though lame). What sort of stuff do you need for rosters and when do you need it? Both Steelers and I have 2005 on X-Box (at least I'm pretty sure he does) and we could probably get you a list of names, stats (FIFA 05), and rough descriptions for the Thunder roster. Finally... can the patch be added to console? Modded X-Box? Or is it PC only? Mike.

strobe_z
heheheh.... Thanks for the tips. As for the rosters, well youllneverwalkalone was talking about using Football Manager to get some Canadian rosters, but I'm not sure how. This patch will only be available for the PC though... Luis_Rancagua
Hey strobe_Z, can you re-post the whole thing again. But this time include logos and uniforms of all the teams from sea-to-sea.
Passive Observer
strobe - just incredible work. I hope you are doing something in this field as you have incredible talent. If you have not already I would send your work to some brand strategy and logo companies. If I was a billionaire looking to finance a canadian league, or even just a club, I know I sure would come to you for all my branding needs. Have you contacted the Lynx about maybe updating their logo? They might actually take you up if you offer.
Passive Observer
Strobe - The CSA asked people to submit ideas for a new CSA logo. Did you send some ideas to them? If yes, care to share them with us?
strobe_z
Thanks for the kinds words Passive Observer. I've done some branding stuff for a few different small companies, but I'm not really "in the field". Haven't sent anything in in the way of submissions though... so who knows. I sent a logo in to the CSA, but I was a bit uninterested in that since they said they'd already had a logo in mind, but wanted the 'community' to try something.... but they made it clear there was NOTHING.. not a sticker or a cup of coffee offered as renumeration. I'll see if I can dig it up and post it...

Gordon
Saskatchewan has a history of drawing sponsorship from local companies: A few to consider CAMECO, COGEMA (both Mining) and Concentra (Formerly Credit Union, and sponsor of SSA to the tune of $100,000 g's per annum). Also Crowns have a history as well SaskTel especially. Just something to consider, especially if you need/want to use the two designated to Regina and Saskatoon elsewhere. DJT
Since this is a fantasy anyway, why have sponsors at all? In my fantasy there wouldn't be sponsors for anything! I hate intrusive ads!

strobe_z
ok.. now who actually wants to be IN the patch? Just tell me the following (As you want it to appear... shave a few pounds off if you like!): Full Name Team Jersey Number Captain? Kicktaker? (L. corner, R. corner, Spot Kicks, Penalties) Postion (3 favourites) Height (in cm) Weight (in Kg) Date of Birth General attributes (i.e. choose from Star/Good/Average) General appearance (i.e. light skin.. short blond hair, etc) Socks (High/Regular/Low) Shoe Colour (W/B/Blue/Red/Yellow/Black,Red+White/L.Blue +Black) Any accessories (earings/various taped bits... necklace/goggles) Now... since this is a fantasy patch.. feel free to add yourself to the USL teams as well if you like. There is a parallel USL patch coming out that will have "official" rosters, so just have fun. Obviously this will be first come first serve on things like Captainship, jersery number, position, etc.. For example.. here's our good buddy Timotas! If anyone wants to provide me with rosters for any of the teams, just let me know. I'll need 24 names, any specific players, starting/subs/reserves, formation and playing style (i.e. attacking/neutral/defending). I have no inclination to do specific stats for each and every player, so if someone REALLY wants to do it email or MSN me and we'll discuss... Timothy has already graciously offered to set up the Hamilton team...
Timotas
Haha welp..I guess thats me. Anyways, myself and strobe have spoke, and I have decided to do the rosters. Just telling you guys what's in store... I'm basically making up a bunch of names. But I'm also being creative and using players that I use to play with in the OYSL, the same age group as me, Jaime Peters, Uccello, Lombardo, etc. So a bunch of the players will be real... some 19 years old, some 20, etc. Also I'll be using players from abroad who are real, who decided to come back and play in Canada. Example, Rhian Dodds will be coming back to play here, also, Richard Hastings. Maybe even Gazza will come play haha... I'm doing my homework on each team. Many old Ottawa Wizards players will be playing for Ottawa Nationals, ie. Abraham Osman. In Fredericton, Ken Morrison (young player who plays in Super Y-League) will be on the Fredericton team. Andre Hainault, Hector Contreras, and some other 18-19 year olds from Quebec will be playing on Montreal Olympique. So each team will basically have a few names that you'll recognize, making it a little more realistic. So basically, a bunch of names will seem firmiliar... making the patch that much more enjoyable. Also, great work by strobe_z... the guy is a genius!
Gordon
What a great idea! I have never played FIFA XXXX but I will do a roster for Saskatoon (and buy the game and download the patch). Do we need the permission of "real" people? Ie I choose "Kevin Holness" as a player coach or some such. No legal issues to consider?
strobe_z
The letter of the law probably does have some legal take on this kind of thing, however the FIFA patching community is large and very well established. I strongly doubt that if no one has ever gotten sued about setting up a patch to include the Dutch National team because EA Sports couldn't secure the rights to them... Kevin Holness ain't gonna come a knocking. The patch is not for sale.. it'll be a free download for everyone. EA Sports supports the community and most of the stuff comes under the same banner as the rest of the 'fair use' fan websites. I've been contacted in years past by the USL about my A-League patches for FIFA but they said "have fun... oh and if you could include a link to the USL website, we'd appreciate that". Of course.. if anyone DOES come a knocking and says "remove me from the patch" we will comply - but I highly doubt that's gonna hapen. It's all in fun.
